while listening to On (..by aphex) with a friend, i
realised ive been listening to On the wrong way since the
start of time. and even now that i know its the wrong way, i
cant get my head around the right way.
and by wrong way, i think the start of the loop/bar is
actually in the middle of the real loop/bar. another way to
put it, is, instead of hearing BOOM TIK BOOM BOOM TIK i hear
BOOM BOOM TIK BOOM TIK.

bloody hell i hope someone understands me : )

Ok, so if you were counting along to the beat, you'd be saying 1 2 3 4, while id be listening
to it my own way counting 3 4 1 2

it usually happens when you dip into the middle of a track
that has a lot going on in it, then your mind becomes
fixated on the off beat for example, ive never had it with
aphex twins music though

I can't pause Autechre's Goz Quarter while I'm listening to
it, it always sounds completely wrong when I start it on
again

I spent the first the first 40 minutes of a DJ Stingray set
hearing the beats the wrong way - and I knew most of the
tracks! how you managed this with on tho is beyond me ;)
anyway is there a right way to listen?

oh i love that effect of starting to hear music the wrong
way around and so it sounds completely weird. other fave is
hearing music from another room, its a track you made,
you're familiar with it - yet you cant identify it in any
way. wicked!

I love this sensation (hearing music the "wrong" way) too ;
it's like dreaming

you mean like, the beat on "Untitled" on SOSW? Wich is
actually 2 3 4 1 instead of 1 2 3 4?
