Is there some easy cheap do-it-yourself way to do this? it doesn't have to be nice like, I just want it to be easier to put up and take down your average $15 poster without getting tape all over it or creasing it etc. just needs to be rigid and flat.

yes
you can buy cheap frames at a lot of art stores - essentially what you get is a particle board backing, clear plastic front, and thin strips of metal that look like U shaped tubes - they slip together - they cost very little
i have some for my posters...theyre a good way to prevent tape damage and etc

Ah, I saw some of those in an art store once, but didn't know if it would work well for a rolled poster. Does it need to be flattened first somehow to prevent warping?

surely this is as difficult as putting a poster/picture in a frame and hanging it on the wall?
am i missing something?

i wouldn't bother with these, they're garbage and they look like shit and they're a pain in the ass to try to put together.
i don't really have a cheap recommendation though. just buy frames if you can i guess.

Even if I bought a frame is this something I could do myself or would I have to take it in? Is it hard mount it flatly and nicely?

glass frames are very expensive, though. if you have tour posters or collector's posters, those are probably worth preserving with nice frames. otherwise, get some special double-sided poster tape that lets you peel it off to move it around.

If the posters are a standard size you can just buy the same size frame from Michael's generally fairly cheaply. I don't know if they have them in Oregon but in the stores they have really good sales on frames quite often.
If you have weird sized posters you probably would want to drymount them which is really easy but requires the use of a tacking iron and a big mount press which are kind of expensive. I use the one at my school.

I actually have duplicates of the posters I want to mount because Warpmart messed up and sent me x2. Glass or protective covering is not something I'm concerned about. Just that it's flat and I don't get tape all over them. I don't know, I'm just horribly incompetant at putting posters on walls with tape.

yeah, man. there's this tape that they make for posters. it is double-sided, so you stick it onto the back of your promo poster in the corners. then when you want to move it a year later, you gently peel it off the wall. it works.

if dont have fingers or have trouble tying your shoes i would avoid the medium i suggest
otherwise its perfect because its cheap and minimalistic
if your poster is rolled - lay it on the floor face down with books on it for a few hours...itll straighten right out - unless you dont care for it much then you can just roll it against the curve it came with - but this risks damaging and wrinkling

I've always just used glass frames. They don't seem to cost too much and they make the thing look much nicer (and more importantly it keeps them flat and un-blu tacked)

They sell these frames here that have hardly any frame/border part. They are very cheap and come in multiple sizes with plastic fronts. You just snap the back off, put the poster on it and squish it between the front so it's completely flat, and snap it back together. I've seen them at Walgreens and some art stores.

IKEA sells some cheap frames. They don't get larger than 70 x 100 cm, though

There ar simple poster frames which are just a metre long metal clip with a hook and another one for the bottom, it keeps the corners protected and the weight keeps the poster straight.
