I'm looking for some good lyric-less music in the vein of
Tristeza, GYBE, or Tortoise. I'm not too knowledgeable of
bands like these (even though Lift Your Skinny Fists and
Spine and Sensory are in my top 10 albums : /).

Thanks

Souvaris are nice. : )

Thanks, I've heard of both of those but never been inclined
to check them out. Now I am.

Looking around, I'm finding that there are a lot less of
these bands than you would think.

that's the only mogwai album i've ever been able to get
into.... but since it's such an amazing album, i
respect them greatly.

Meh, I really need to start using the followup button.

That sounds really good, though I would probably have to
come up with a fair bit of money before I could fully check
them out as they are so indie : / (I usually buy several cds
at a time from cduniverse or amazon to save on shipping, so
I don't get to buy stuff from small labels very often as it
tends to be more expensive)

well, they have an online store with paypal, the album is
$18 including shipping - and less if you live in europe
(€14) or the uk (£9).

they also have an ep which is half the price.

but you can already download the mp3s from their site if
you're lacking money. : )

Bah, either post rock is not my thing or gybe and mogwai are
not their best example.

I'd rather recommend you some Fennesz, even it's rather IDM.
He has a nice use of guitars on his EP "Instrument" and on
"Endless Summer". Haha.

Why not listening to some Sonic Youth ? Some early albums
don't have a lot of lyrics, like "Confusion is sex" or "Bad
moon rising".

Hey, does Brand X suck? Are they even similar?

I know that they are quite old.

It doesn't have to be post rock either, really. Also
looking for stuff like Jason Forrest (which, I haven't heard
a lot of, but was pretty good)

Moving Gelatine Plates, cool French Canterbury-style prog
from the 70s, sounds sort of like Magma. And Ulan Bator,
modern sort-of-post rock band, really stylish. Actually
everybody I mentioned in this post is from France, French
rock wails.

if you know Tortoise - then do you know Isotope 217 ? A bit
more jazzy stuff. Strongly rrrecommending.
