... don't have really much in common do they? actually i
bought a book last week - "raimond queneau - exercises de
style" and i have to say that i'm mega-impressed.

on the first page of the book you have a story that's really
uninteresting, even boring about some guy sitting in a bus.
it's just a few lines long.

but then, on every of the next pages you have exactly the
same history, but written with another technique. so you
have for example the same history told by one person, then
another person tells it. afterwards you have the same
history told like a poem etc...

so you read the same history 99 times!

it rocks - one of the most funny things i ever read. a pity
it's so short!

when i searched the internet after "queneau" afterwards i
found something quite interesting - actually he wanted to
write that book after he listened to some fuga of bach,
which consisted of the same loop played over and over again
just with a few differences in tempo, articulation etc. he
wanted to see if something like this is possible to do with
literature.

and i have to say that it does! reading the book is like
listening to music. it's like you would use one melody, loop
it endless and just add some effects to it.

actually - i'm so impressed that i really want to make a
track about it - will be hell of work because some things
will be just to difficult to explain - but i hope that maybe
in a few years i will be finished :D

Oh i'm sure your track would be great ! =)
Interesting story. It reminds me of the movie "Rashomon" by
Kurosawa, that i watched yesterday night. The same story
told by 4 different persons. Very good film.

correction: perhaps you have, and have noticed that the
hymns are based on biblical scriptures. that is all.

p.s. i guess that still doesnt mean they have anything in
common. its too early in my day for this.
