is it/could it be over-rated?
there is the supposed connection that MISTAKES love for monogamy. where did this idea manifest itself into the human belief system?

how does a connection mistake something for something else?
a connection is something abstract. it's not a living, breathing thing with a brain.
your post makes no sense.

I have too agree. Also I read the post title as "mahogany" which made it even more confusing.

i'm in a relationship with someone polyamorous right now. it's odd having to share, but it's less stressful because of less restrictions. simone de beauvoir once said the more concretely we live our relationships, the less they are idealized. so, it's possible to pull off polygamy, but it requires balancing your time between people.
monogamy is easy...

right, well
i think this idea of monogamy was never made deeply intrenched in the human belief system; it's part of the human condition.. cavemen (and indeed, men for centuries afterwards) would regard their women to be just that - their women, their property.
however since that's an outdated view of things, i think the reason people still stick to it is because devotion is a very important and enriching element of love.

a connection isn't the same thing as an insinuation.
so, perhaps by "connection = insinuation" you mean to say that you meant to write "insinuation" the first time around?
that clears nothing up. how does an insinuation mistake something? can an insinuation also walk down a street?
how's about instead of me trying to understand your first nonsense post, you rewrite it, and you do the thinking before writing, instead of leaving it up to us to decypher your illformed drivel.

I have done the monogamous thing and the polyamourous thing. My current relationship is a polyamourous turned monogamous relationship. I find it much less stress, no jelousy, no excuses needed to be in a polyamourous relationship, but my girlfriend couldn't deal with it in a healthy manner (she isn't ready for it), so it became exclusive. Funny, it was her last boyfriend that convinced her to be in an open relationship, but whenever she got close to sleeping with someone else, he would flip. Thats when she got involved with me.

I think it means she's a slapper?
Mating for life is a natural condition amongst some mammals (not just humans as some people think/assume). It's tied to the fact we look after our young for years after they're born (even more so today), so it makes sense from a survival aspect for both parents to be around to provide for/protect the young.

I hate it when people say that they don't believe in marriage.
I can understand that peoples attitude towards marriage can change if they've had bad experiences with it, parent divorce for example, but commitment and marrage are completely seperate things.
Marrage is a symbol, a gift, a party and a news broadcast, all at the same time. It's not really something you can believe in or not.
Commitment can end, with or without marriage.
I got married in May. A little bias perhaps.
