Worst Film Adaptation? Ever?

I had the misfortune to go the cinema the other day and
watch Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. I had hoped that
this film would be good, since for me the book series gets
good from #4 onwards.

But, this film was tortuously terrible, to the point where I
would have walked out after about 25 minutes if my
girlfriend hadn't been present. It is just so utterly awful
on so many levels that it would take three posts just to
make a list.

But since we're all above the main stream I'm sure only
three members will have seen it anyway!

On a plus side, I was in Glasgow last month and caught
Broken Flowers at the Odeon - which, on a sidenote, is about
7 floors tall, incredible!

i think "even cowgirls get the blues" should be a contender
for worst adaptation.

then again, i thought "broken flowers" was terrible.

Hallo Paul :)

I still haven't seen Goblet, I may watch it this weekend as
I downloaded it. But I'd say you're probably right. I have
never laughed so much as when I watched Chamber Of Secrets
stoned last week. "Good one Goyle!"

I actually had this conversation with a mate last week. The
only one I remember agreeing on was Jurassic Park 2.

Broken Flowers verdict?

i should also mention that i could not even make it through
the first harry potter movie, and haven't read any of the
books. anyway, sorry about the irrelevant reply!

Well, like Lost in Translation, it requires a second
viewing. It's slow paced and low key. I enjoyed it though,
although it's not one to watch if you're in an impatient
mood. On a side note, I think that one of Bill Murray's
children makes a cameo right at the end, as a passenger in a
VW Beetle.

PS Yavo, when are you going to send me your mobile number?
I'm rarely online any more, so being able to communicate via
Text Messages would be neat-o.

i still think harry potter the first was ripped of the first
part of the wizard of the earthsea. not watching and not
reading harry potters since seeing the first movie.

I can handle that, I'll probably buy the dvd when it comes
out.

I can send you my number but I never put credit on (ever) so
I won't be able to text back, not much point really!

Yes I noticed that too; he looked like him and he was
wearing a similarly silly training outfit and during the
credits his name appeared as (I forget his first name)
Murray. But then again I think there was another Murray in
the make-up credits or the like. If it was him, it would fit
the film well.

I thought the Harry Potter film was fine, though everyone
told me it doesn´t do credit to the book. I think I´ll
start reading from here...

If that was Murray's son, then Murray seems to have spawned
some chubby dumb-looking stoner kid... eek.

sometimes sports?

Just checked IMdB, and Homer Murray is indeed Bill's son.

I dont think i ever saw an actor with less charisma then
this harry potter guy. he looks and acts like he has some
serious mental problems and no self confidence at all. but i
saw only 1st potter, so maybe now he is second johnny depp
and shit.
