I know that "wheres your girlfriend" sounds better if you
listen whilst wearing a top-hat.

well i have all 12 with the binder so i have a pretty good
idea about it..there are more than 2 tracks that i like
dearly, and maybe quite a bit of tracks that don't stand out
but once you give it a proper listen you can see the magic
in them..im not just saying this, there's a magic touch to
them you either get or not :)

as for information, something that isn't widely known
perhaps, some dirty little secret perhaps :)

perhaps give your opinions on why you would think this
releases are 'important' for the electronic music
scene..something like that perhaps :)

well, not in a wider context, no, but in context of dance
oriented electronic music certanly.

A full binder (including extra Analord10 picture disk)
weighs approx 3.1 kg = 6.8 pounds.

Owning a full binder of Analords makes you less attractive
to the opposite sex.

The Analord series proved that AFX is still very much the
man

It seems to have bridged a bit of a gap between different
scenes. Recent Detroit techno seems to have embraced and
taken a lot of influence from these records.

The overall sound of these recordings is a beautiful
thing...they have really grown on me over the last few
months

"Recent Detroit techno seems to have embraced and

really? i haven't heard anything recent from detroit techno
scene..can you name some albums/songs to check?

Yeah it's a bit of a strange one really...because Analord
definately takes massive influence from early Detroit
techno.

Essay and artist list to follow in the morning :)

I like the bits where it an element comes in out of synch
and the whole track just stops til it drops in just right
then carries on.
Whats the deal with the "field of hope"?
Did rich take the pics?
What the virus names? (pretty obvious "fuck off" to the
internet)
Is the 11 1/2 a spinal tap reference?
Is he payin respek to LFO by having them close the series?

I consider detroit techno the halfway point between
IDM/Listening Techno (Whatever you want to call it) and full
on dancefloor stuff. It is both forward thinking and
accessible to girls hips (always a bonus). Analord echo's
the early Detroit sound but seems to have kick started a bit
of an analogue revival, and not just 303's...

There seems to have been quite a shift in the sound over the
last year. Pre-Analord, it seemed we had reached a
saturation point of bland techno and microhouse. DSP
effects seemed to be the creative force rather than the
artists (Supatrigga and absynth presets anyone?). The
sounds, textures and form
were very digital and cold.

Analord to me seemed to be anti Microhouse, AFX didn't crop
his beats and tones to decay after a nanosecond...there is a
warmth and fullness to the sounds...they ring out raw and
unprocessed. The tracks are built around good catchy
melodies and there is a very danceable almost disco element
to a lot of the drum patterns. There is a real simplicity
to the sound yet the careful synth programing shows lots of
detail and makes it sound so fresh.

A few months on, and the Analord copycats have been and
gone, what's left are artists that have taken on board some
of it's elements....Artists like Kero,Jeff Samuel, Akufen,
Claro Intelecto, Luciano, Andy Stott...even heavyweights
like Jeff mills are using some similar sounds in their
recent releases and DJ sets. Staccato and glitchy
compositions have given way to a warmer, more shuffly
style.

At the end of the day trends in music are cyclical and
evolving slowly. This could all be coincedence or maybe i'm
making something out of nothing...It just seems that Mr
James has a habbit of releasing music that brings about
change quicker.

It's a bit of a stretch to state that Kero,Jeff Samuel,
Akufen,
Claro Intelecto, Luciano, Andy Stott have been directly
influenced by the Analord series. For a start all of those
people primarily use PC's to create their music + they've
all been doing the same thing for years. Analord to me is
more a love affair with his machines, now that evil DSP
mistress has floppy flaps, everyone's 'had her' and still
continues to 'have her' even though she looks well battered.

Just an opinion...I know these are well established artists
i'm talking about and it is a wee bit far fetched...but i
think Analord sent that style in a less clicky direction
anyway. Im probably talking bollocks.

You're not talking bollocks, I agree to an extent that he
brings about change quicker, but it's usually a change from
the sheep that are too scared to express themselves through
their own music. It's fine being a hobbiest and emulating
things but I find it hard to take serious as something
personal and on its own merit.

Analord wasn't really a reference to analogue equipment but
rather an analogue music making process. By that I mean
hands on equipment with no screens involved for sequencing
etc. Also I off loaded some stale pea's to a pea farmer at
the market today. He traded me a cow and a packet of worm
seeds for them.

Fenix Funk 5 = Fenix Funk Annoying

Claiming that Analord has affected the Detroit techno scene
seems a bit weird. When was the last Analord released?
Just 6 months ago. You even claim that 'the Analord
copycats have been and
gone'. Already? Not that I know of any scene, but how do
you know that much about what's happened in just 6 months?
Do you have time to listen to anything else?
