when we're onto stupid old synth music i wias wondering if
anyone could yousend(it) guro josh, the tune with the
trumpet thing. the video was guro, synth, trumpet and strobe
light. approx 1990. i haven't seen/heard it since then. it's
probably rediculous, but probably really nostalgic as well.
like i remember my first gf when i hear lily and susy,
what's the color of love (hahaha(, which also is a great
tune. lol

jarre? what a looserr

STFU. Jarre=great. You should try to listen to his Bourges
gig. Absolutely amazing stuff.

I dislike his music. It's mostly one-finger-synth music.

Oxygene is nice. I used to play my mom's vinyl of it quite
often in high school.

My dad also has it on vinyl and I used to play it sometimes
when I was a little boy and when my parents were away.
Because it was its only electronic music vinyl and only
electro would appeal me. But I didn't like it in fact !

Yeah he was definitely one of the first big names in
electronic, my folks had that and Switched On Bach by Walter
Carlos, but then again it seems like everyone has that..

I'm not sure what you meant about Oxygene though, you
listened to it because that's all that was available at the
time.. even though you didn't like it?

haha: "It's mostly one-finger-synth music."

It's true, but there's a reason for that: All the other
fingers of that hand are up his ass, while his other hand is
jacking off.

So, I think most of Jarre is anal, boring and masturbatory,
but I'll give him that maybe he was something twenty years
ago. But he hasn't updated himself as smoothly (?) as even
Kraftwerk have.

I love Mr.Jarre. I have all his studio albums. My favorites
are probably Chronologie, Oxygene 7-13, Equinox and
Metamorphsis. Actually, I like them all bar a lot of the
tracks off Revolutions, and Magnetic Fields never does
anything much for me apart from the lovely long opening
track.

Yep, it was my parent's only electronic record ! They had a
lot of Beatles but at that time i didn't like them so I
prefered listening to Jarre. You know I was only 10...

Jarre always gets slammed by the press over here, but when I
heard Oxygene a few years ago I thought some of it was
really good. Much of it was over-the-top, but there were one
or two tracks on it that hit the spot. But I've heard a few
other bits and pieces - he's no Aphex, let's put it that
way.

i love his older stuff - but most of his more recent
releases have been a bit unimaginative, or just lame
compilations (aero was a joke - presented like an album but
most of the tracks were just reworks, and of the supposed
new tracks, they were way too similar to existing ones).
he's past his best, but he has some amazing achievements
behind him.

I will never, NEVER willingly buy a Jean-Michel Jarre
album.

there is ONE exception: I will only if I can buy each and
every album of his on the world, new and secondhand, so they
can be packed together and fired into the sun. with the man
himself strapped to the rocket exhaust.

You should just try one album. If you don't like it, fine.

you're not alone. i quite like jarre. i think my love of
electro is heavily influenced from hearing jarre when quite
young.

same here- he was the first electronic artist i listened to,
when i were a wee lad.

if you buy one album, buy chronologie. best in my opinion

Chronologie is quite orchestral. Here's a guide:
Oxygene=Ambient (Get it)
Equinoxe=Ambient + Electro (-ish)
Magnetic Fields=Electroish
Concerts In China=Electroish (Get it NOW)
Zoolook=Avant garde + Funk
Rendez-Vous=Classical
Revolutions=Electronic + Rock + Classical
Destination Docklands=Okay, this is crap due to BIG
OVERDUBS
Waiting For Cousteau=Ambient
Chronologie=Classical + Rock
Oxygene 7-13=Ambient + Electronica
Metamorphoses=Dance + Ethnic
Sessions 2000=Electronic jazz
Geometry Of Love=Lounge
