im going to see pita this thursday night

he is performing in a "mini-chapel" in a church here in
philadelphia - the venue only holds 50 people and should be
pretty damn sweet if you ask me !!!

it's that rehberg guy right? the mego owner..he sure put out
some excellent stuff! i saw mego's hecker (or is it hacker?)
a while ago, he did a noisy set, probably one of the most
annoying sets i've heard live and i heard plenty! (haswell,
merzbow,..). pita is perhaps my second favourite on mego,
right after hecker, should be good!

yeah - i like how his stuff has more texture and is prettier
than most noise guys - im going to be sitting in a church
watching this...should be interesting

hecker is on mego there is also a tim hecker who makes
really stupid "techno"

the thing im most curious about is what the audience will be
like - ill probably be the youngest cat in there - probably
be all older hipster types - maybe ill meet a cute chick
there...hahaha...i doubt it!

personally i like tim hecker quite a bit! seeing him live
was one of better experiences i must say. what have you
heard from him? as i don't really see it as stupid trechno..

wait...maybe im confusing him w/ hacker...shit i dont
remember

i used to be friends with a trance dj who lived in montreal
and said he liked hacker (or hecker?) and i said i had heard
a live set i liked, all noise, he gave me a cd and it was
this really shitty house type crap...

i probably have no idea what im talking about - and artists
should stop naming themselves so fucking similarly

yeah, you probably thought hacker..the one producing stuff
for miss kittin..electro clash sort of thing..boring.

there are also florian and maximilian heckers who also make
electronic music but i don't like either of them..

I think that Hecker and Florian Hecker are the same person.

i wanted to go to this show but i didn't want to miss class.
(i have class on thursday nights)

the only way i was going to miss school was if it was
announced that hecker (of mego) was going to play with him,
but it's just pita.

also, dillinger escape plan is playing that same night in
the main area (along with between the buried and me and
horse the band)

i'd have like to have seen dillinger as well (this is sold
out currently)

how the pita show didn't sell out is beyond me. i know not
many people have probably heard of him, but it's only 50
people.

have fun! :)

so's i went to the show's...

the turnout was pathetic, but philly isnt much for
interesting events - the dilinger escape plan show seemed to
have tons of people (which made me giggle) and supposedly
the flashbulb did open - when i asked a kid manning the door
for pita he said:

"the flash-what?, oh the autechre guy, yeah he played, or
someone with a name close to that"

yikes, poor benn

pita played in a mini-chapel which was effing sweet - the
sound was great, not too loud, not too quite, etc - his set
was noise but really well done and had MANY pretty ambient
tones throughout it...i was impressed - it was short
though...like 30 minutes short

pita is a friendly guy too - he was walking around before
his show (and even though i tried to avoid this) i was the
first person there - he told me stories about russell
haswell, flying, washington dc, and drinking in pubs in
england - nice guy, good show, highly recommend anyone to
see him !!!

i recorded some of it on my phone but doubt ill be able to
salvage it for anyones use but my own - shame you couldnt
make it curb creeper - had anyone from this site been there
i was the kid third from the front, right side, wearing a
run dmc sweatshirt...i doubt anyone was though

so he basically took more time to tell you stories than he
did for the gig? that is quite odd..

please tell us more about pita's good old stories: mego is a
lovely label (the latest hecker/haswell ep is really good,
destroying your ears but still more than good / Hecker &
Haswell are playing live soon in london, using Xenakis
software). saw haswell playing live last spring : short to
the point (20min) too but i was quite impress by the sound
of it, kind of more mature than the live salvage cd. total
immersive music.

i wish more things of this nature (more experimental less
"idm" or whatever) came around philly more often, or the
states in general i should say - i always get so envious
when i have to read about the gigs people get to see in
europe !
