has aphex left Warp?

Warp only seems to be releasing old material - ever since
Drukqs. the analord crap, and all other recent Aphex output
(if it is indeed actually recently written) has been on
rephlex etc.
whats going on?!

He left Warp Records to do stuff for his Frog in A Can with
A Stick and A Leaf label.

Alternatively, there has been some rumblings in his other
side-label Frog in a Jar with a Leaf and A Twig as well.

Warp kicked me out of the offices because I only sat there
surfing web sites while smoking weed.
I'm Richard D. James, btw

it seems he can't use the name aphex twin anymore
because the normally put out analord was afx and i saw a
poster for his gig in rome that said afx aka aphextwin
what do you think?

Let's all obsess over the activities of a musician, like
teenage girls stalking a boy band.

Analord 10 (1st Edition) - Aphex Twin - Rephlex Records

Although I do beleive there are legal issues with non Warner
releases baring the name Aphex Twin outside of the UK.

but that's what i meant, you could only buy that through
mail, not in the shop, it's like buying an album a friend
made

If Warner handle the international distribution there is no
problem is there?

There's plenty of other niche interest forums you can visit
and drop variations of that crap line in, if you're really
that bored.

you mean rephlex is part of warner, or just distributes
through them?
maybe the release of analord 10 (first edition) was just in
the uk and that's why they had to send it
so richard d james maybe doesnt own the name aphex twin
internationally..
the second edition was by afx then? i cant find the release
in the discography here or on discogs.com

No Warner hold the international license to the Aphex Twin
on Warp material. However I read that part of the deal
means that the name Aphex Twin is licensed as part of the
deal so he cannot use that name outside of an international
Warner release until the contract expires. He can use AFX
though.

The first edition of 10 had Aphex Twin written on the label.
The second edition is just the logo picture disk with no
names on.

I don't really care though and I may be completely off the
mark.

The "bad relationship" between RDJ and Warp is just bullshit
and rumours made on this mb, I think. First Druqks was the
contract-filler, then 26 mixes was it, and suddenly there
was the re-release of the habs.

i'm not much into this stuff, so rephlex and warp are just
labels under big corporations? i didn't even know that

No no. They are both independent, however they have
distribution deals with other companies.

I think Ecnad's talking about the International side of
things, I imagine it's ok to use Aphex Twin as a name in
Britain, but maybe it's subject to legal... ties... outside
due to .. stuff.

From the horses' mouth: a RDJ quote (Translated by dog_belch
actually. thanks!):

INTERVIEWER- "Much is said over your relationship with the
Warp label, and many rumours have been circulating: that you
weren't happy with them, that you're next album would be
your last... but you're still here. What can you clear up
about all this?"

RDJ- They're all false rumours, there's never been a
problem between me and Warp. Nearly everything I've read on
the Internet about me, the same as about other people who I
know personally, is completely wrong. It's great when nobody
can know you well because they don't ask. By the way, hello
everybody.

Full interview thread here.

That and Warp's AFX/LFO split single mentioned above should
be evidence enough

he's probably still on Warp but just changed his name -
maybe to Autechre, or Boards of Canada or something.
