tolstoyed, what was your exact assignment? do a paper on a
compilation?

give us some kind of direction and maybe we can be more
helpful.

haha, i'll do that if i don't come up with something.

mimi, it's for a radio show where compilations are
presented. the thing is i shall write quite a bit about this
particular compilation as i'll present skam label in a 2
hour show. this one will only take an hour, in which there
should be text for about 10-15 minutes and the rest is
music.

btw, i just ordered this from skam, how long does it usually
take them to ship things? are they anywhere as good as
warpmart in that department? :)

i should write something about its importance in the music,
electronic music..first time im doing this sort of show so
im not exactly sure..

So are you looking for information on the artists, like what
they had been up to around the time the skampler was
released? Like a where-everybody-came-from type of deal?
Would that sort of thing be useful at all or does it have to
relate directly to the compilation?

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2005-11-06 19:50 [#01771706]

well, i doubt i will be able to write that much only on the
release itself so anything would help, yes. i was trying to
find as much information as possible but i kinda suck at
doing this..best info on skam i found on wikipedia so there
:)

is there another site where i could read a bit more about
it? i didn't even know that lego feet are supposed to be
early autechre..jav

hm i would look on ebay, if people even still use that.
people used to put shitloads of information about releases
and artists in their auctions way back when. that's how i
found most things out.

This compilation was the first record that showed me the
other side of electronic music, before Skamples the music
was "too clean".

This records introduced me to Gescom, Boards of Canada, Bola
and Jega. Which are along the main characters of Electronic
music for me now.

Bola - Forcasa 3, Gescom - Keynell 1 and Boards Of Canada -
Everything You Do is a Balloon knocked me out straight away!

but but, aphex, autechre and some other people all released
this sort of music before 97 when skampler came out..or do
you mean before when songs from skampler were produced? yeah
must be this second one i reckon :)

No, I only heard artists like Orbital before Skampler so you
can imagine what kind of impact this release had on me.
