winter/summer ambient

I hear phrases like "this ambient release sounds like
winter" a lot, but I never hear of music being compared to
any other seasons, which (to me) makes the need to mention
the season almost redundant, as "cold" and "lonely" would
likely decribe it just as well.

Not all ambient sounds cold and wintery.
Brian Eno and Harold Budds ambient works sounds very
summerish to me, while Marsen Jules' Herbstlaub sounds very
autumnlike.

I will be checking out that autumn style.

Overall there are oftentimes ambient that reminds me of
different things. Yagya's album (IMO) most perfectly
captured the essence of winter.

I didn't mean all ambient, just the sort of ambient that
gets that description,

Aidan Baker makes the coldest ambient I've heard. I agree
that some Jules sounds really autumnal, and a lot of
Freescha's warmer stuff, especially on some of the EPs,
really gives me warm rushes. But yeah, I find I mostly
listen to ambient when I want to feel remote, not warm and
fuzzy.

i like ambient very much, but it seems like i'm cruelly
lacking "knowledge" about it... missing out on a lot of
bands...

i rarely associate music with seasons. and when i do, i
suspect myself of making these associations because of when
i heard it for the first time, or because of the
colours/picture on the cover, etc... rather than because of
the music itself. (now of course the cover art obviously has
something to do with the music...)
