Everyone knows Ventolin, Come to Daddy, Windowlicker,
Girl/Boy, Fingerbib, Flim, On, Digeridoo, Avril 14th,
CockVer10, Xtal, Iz-Us, Rhubarb, Alberto Balsalm, etc...

But what awesome tracks do you NEVER see mentioned,
anywhere? What are some yoiur faves that are
underappreciated?

Iketa
TCAWChild, Contour Regard
Tamphex
Gibbon
Btoum Roumada
Everyday
Custodian Discount
Next Heap With
Wax the Nip
Hedphelym

I NEVER see any of these tracks mentioned anywhere.

BTW, looking at all his well known tracks above and all the
great underrated ones, I have NO doubt he's the greatest.
These tracks are SO varied, nobody comes close, he's a jack
of all trades.

from what I've seen on this board all of I Care Because You

Do is underrated...

Avril 14th is overrated.

I agree on Tamphex...it's one of his best "hardcore" tracks.
You gotta love those samples.

The 8th track from Analogue Bubblebath 3, I only started
loving that a week ago. It's SO beautiful.

Most of the Girl/Boy EP... it's all good... and yeah,
Surfing on Sine Waves... I really like that one now...

Points: 662 Status: Lurker

alot of people love "everyday", and "arched maid viaRDJ",
but of course, only can have it thru mp3.

i never thought that Alberto Balsalm really stood out from
the "lush" (is this proper use of 'lush'?) nice 5 tracks
downtempo ending to ICBYD, but it seems to be mentioned
quite alot here.

this stuff is GREAT, nice and old school.

Acrid Avid Jam Shred

It's my favourite track of ICBYD, and it's completely
overshadowed by Ventolin and Alberto Balsalm.

Love those drums. Love that funky little melody two thirds
of the way in :)

offline aron from saskatoon (Canada) on 2002-02-27 01:50 [#00103934]
Points: 3756 Status: Lurker

yeah, acrid avrid jam shred is wicked.
prolly my fave tune from icbyd.

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-02-27 01:53 [#00103936]
Points: 16280 Status: Lurker

yes yes, oh my goodness, how could Acrid Avid Jam Shred be
underrated... it's a brilliant song... I remember the first
time I heard it, that little melody you speak of totally
caught me off guard... I was so not expecting it, but I was
pleasantly surprised...

offline tommo from Perth (Australia) on 2002-02-27 01:58 [#00103939]
Points: 144 Status: Lurker

That little melody absolutely makes the song for me. The
whole rest of the song serves as a lead up to that brilliant
little part.

Every time I hear it my face breaks out in a huge grin :)

offline tommo from Perth (Australia) on 2002-02-27 02:00 [#00103942]

The only Aphex song I like more than Acrid is Pancake
Lizard, but quite a few people seem to like that.

same here man... I love it, and it's definately the
highlight of the song when that part comes in...

another one that rarely gets mentioned...mookid..as good as
alberto balsalm imo

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-02-27 02:02 [#00103946]
Points: 16280 Status: Lurker

yes yes, Mookid... very very good song... no matter how loud
to turn it up, it's still never TOO loud... :)

offline tommo from Perth (Australia) on 2002-02-27 02:04 [#00103949]
Points: 144 Status: Lurker

Mookid is cool. I love that sort of
childish/sentimental/I-don't-know-its-hard-to-expain whining
noise in the song. It's beautiful :)

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-02-27 02:06 [#00103952]
Points: 16280 Status: Lurker

you know that song by Orbital called Duck Feet or something
off of Snivilization? Well, I've never heard the song, but I
have always thought that that would be a good title for
Mookid, cause the beat always makes me think of ducks
walking... :)

On the Romance Tip, Arched Maid, Sloth, and most definetly

oohhhh yeah, I forgot about Wax the Nip

Lots of people don't like it, but I love it, especially when
I'm really fucked up, I'll jump on my waterbed with the
headphones straped on and let it take me on a journey flying
outside of my body...

That chalky synth sound throughout with those creepy ambient
tones in the background.... ahhhhhhhhh
