WHAT'S THE BEST MP3 PLAYER?

what's the best mp3 player on the market right now?

i'm looking for something with lots of harddrive space,
(40GB plus), flexibility (i.e. can be used as harddrive over
USB, etc), and most importantly: it must let me cue up
playlists spontaneously (eg whilst on the train or at a
party).

suggestions please!?

I think epohs has a crazy big one with a lot of gb space.
(around 80 or more)

my memory is a bit fuzzy but i want to say that its a decent
price too.

I hope this post reminds someone of what i am trying to
think of so then they can post "yeah thats a (product) and
it wasnt epohs that had it"

Then you will have your answer!

laptop + winamp lol

that way it won't crash every 2 hours and doesn't take up
30mb of memory.

The Creative Zen Xtra was pretty good but you can't get it
any more. The Zen Touch is OK as well but hard to get hold
of. >40Gb is pretty much the preserve of the new iPod
now...everyone else is concentrating on the 20Gb and under
players.

There was also a very good iRiver player but again I don't
think it is available any more.

I have a Sony NW-HD5 (top is 30Gb though). I've found this
to be an absolutely awesome player...battery life is
amazing, sound quality is excellent.

Core, as much as I like to give people hardware tips, I must
give up this pleasure now, because I know that whatever you
buy it won't be able to recreate the unbelievable perfection
of The Campfire Headphase.

supposedly the iriver series have the best audio quality out
of everything, and they seem reasonably priced, with quite a
good number of features.

i've read that the latest ipod's have a crappy sound chip
too so they sound pretty tinny; the older generation ipods,
or the ipod shuffle (surprisingly!) are the better ones in
terms of audio quality.

i have no need for a personal player at this point though,
so honestly, i personaly don't know; this is just what i
read.

Headphone audiophile boards pretty much praise the iPod for
it's headphone output and the quality of the sound up to the
4th Generation.

heh, the only ipod's i've really played with were 1st/2nd
generations, and they sounded brilliant.
