Meh I don't have much faith. The whole GYBE scene started going down the shitter post Yanqui...
Is it all gay folky, or awesome post rocky?

it's too bad the search is down as there was a fairly okay topic about it when it came out.

i didnt realise itw as out im kinda ashamed its teh first asmz ive heard, everyone normally ranted on about how it was just GYBE and i figured it wanst worth the listen, i eman why hear watered down GYBE when u can listen to teh real thing. Turns out they were very wrong and for that very reason ive missed out on some GREAT music

in that case:
born into trouble as the sparks fly upward is not only their best album but one of the best albums ever.

ASMZ has been going away from their early GYBE sound with each release, creating their own sound. Pretty Little Lightning Paw is another example of that.
It has more of the Mile End vibe of up here in Montreal, I couldn't describe it, but it's there like the Arcade Fire has it also, and many other Constellation recording. Perhaps its the Hotel2Tango studio that emits such mystical aspects in the music. Oh if you don't know... The Mile End is a borough up here in Montreal, near "Le Plateau" just behind the Mont-Royal. There's also this group called "Below the Sea", which is amazing. They are from Montreal also, I feel the same vibe from them.
I wonder what in 20 years we'll think of those groups. It's bizarre growing in Montreal, because of the omnipresent Québec french musical scene (which makes up for 95% of all music up here), groups like Arcade Fire, ASMZ, Gybe, etc.. they are pretty much ignored by everybody. Who cares really about Marie-Chantal Toupin.

Everything about this group is amazing. I've been following them since their first record which could be my favorite.
I also love that they change their name per release.
