Ehh, my point being, any ideas? I'd like something like a
Golf but that's too much money forr me.

I thought you had a bike licence? If you want something
smaller with a bit of get up and go, consider getting a
600cc sportsbike. Insurance will be about as much as for a
Golf, yet the performance will be approaching that of a
£100,000 sportscar.

If you need a car just to transport things in/to commute in
icy weather, get a budget bike for performance/fun and a
cheap, reliable car to move stuff round in (this method
works out at about the same as buying/insuring a half decent
car).

Good cars from what I've heard/seen (never driven one, but
I've diced with a few on my bike and they were reasonably
swift) and when you look at comparable "practical
sports-oriented cars" it does look an attractive
alternative. I'd be tempted to go for a Focus ST (similar
money) myself as I get most fun out of cornering and the
more rally oriented performance would be useful in mud/rain
soaked and camera covered british roads, as well as the fact
that even the basic 1.6 Focus is one of the most fun and
useable cars I've driven.

Nice to see that Mazda are responsible and include a days
advanced driving tuiton in the price. Sadly most drivers of
high performance cars in the UK seem to have no clue how to
use anywhere near their machines full potential and instead
have them for the looks. I'm not saying everyone should bomb
round at twice the limit constantly, but if you spend £50K
on a car, to sit in the middle lane at 80 on the motorway,
and take empty roundabouts bends you can see round at 30,
you're a bit of a sap. Similarly, engaging in a bit of
"traffic lights grand prix" and changing gears far too soon
(and consequently taking about 12 seconds to reach 60) is
laughable.

To true, nothing is more laughable than a Ferrari spewing
black fumes as it burns through it's fuel while stuck in a
traffic jam.

Ever since I saw it, I fell in love with the Mazda RX8 (i
will be purchasing that car at least once in my lifetime). I
mean: Zoom Zooom Zoooom.

Somthing that is quite fun, if some driver is giving you
cheek and seems to want to overtake; (oonly do this if you
know the road well) race him and just before the speed
camera brake (slow down enough) and watch with ecstasy as
your fellow driver gets an £80 fine (and maybe points of
his licence).

a biting faggot son of a bitch as well ! Injection motor, so
this baby will get you to high speeds in no time. Tends to
stutter abit when cold outside, and it's no diesel.

I bought a VW Polo. It's maybe a little bit morre womanyfied
than I'd like in a drream worrld, but it's a good carr and
should hold a bit of value when I get the cash to upgrrade
and trrade it in.

Fah: The earlier Micras were the most reliable, but they're
good little cars. Cheap to run, reliable and spares are
reasonably easy to come by.

Anus_Presley: Not bad at all. As you say, if you buy second
hand, unless you put silly mileage on it/crash it, you'll be
able to sell it for almost the same as you bought it for in
a years time. Certainly a more manly car than my old, <1
litre 106.

How 'bout an Audi A3? Mine's arriving in january, and I
think it is an incredible car to look at.

Sexy even. If you're in to that stuff, though.

33.500 if I were paying for it myself, but it's a lease car,
so it will be slightly cheaper.

My flatmate has just gotten a 1.9 (petrol) Audi A3. I've not
had a go in it, or even been a passenger when she has really
put her foot down, but I bet it goes like stink on the open
road. I've driven my brother's A4 with a similar engine and
in spite of having a much bigger chassis/more weight, it
still shifted.

Hanal: Which model skoda have you got?

its the fabia 1.9 tdi-to be fair for the price difference
compared to the golf-about £4000ish i can put up with the
lesser stylish car-but you can now get the vrs for about
£11000,think i shall be getting one.big fan of vw made
cars.

They're definately a "to consider" for my next personal car.
Same reason as you: VW reliability and function. I'm not
overly fussy about labels/style and even if I was, I think
Skoda have definately gone a long way towards shaking off
their old reputation. Especially second hand: I'd definately
rather get a £4K Skoda than a £4K VW.

i bought mine new about 18 months ago,its been fantastic-
and yeah new or second hand go for the skoda-second hand
youll get one a lot newer than a golf for the same money:)

for a good small car with good accelleration and no
blandness of modern cars look at the new Daihatsu Sirion, i
just bought one a couple of weeks ago and its amazing, the
equipment you get with it is unbelievable too for the
price.

They build them (and the CRV) just down the road from me.
Lots of them go to America, The Civic R-Type is a popular
car amongst boy racers in America, isn't it?
