Am I right in thinking that if you have a cheapo soundcard with reasonably high latency, there will still be a significant lag of your midi data affecting the sound you hear? My thinking being that even if the USB device midi controller sends its signals instantly, the cheapo sound card will be taking a long time to play the sound from the midi data it receives. |

You could also just tweak your sequencers buffer size to the lowest possible usable point. |

The novation also has a synthesizer built in, as well as extra inputs so you can use it as a mixer and other stuff. Its the most usefull swiss army knife solution I can think of. I have one. Its great (although I don't need to use it as a soundcard). |
