I thought Nausicaa was the princess of the valley of wind.
Nice story, very tasteful with some childish euphoria.

amazing.

as always a great story, though this one definately required
the use of a dictionary for any non-native english speaker,
and maybe even testing the vocabulary of a few native
english speakers.. plus some french, but that didn't really
pose a problem.

I don't really think you need the parenthesis "(though not
atonal)." It kind of made a tear in the picture...

wouldn't it be better to have "tanned" than sunned?

I liked how the very detailed.. eh.. (or "um") ...details
kind of led up to the conclusion.. it seemed like they did
to me anyway...

I think castle in the sky is pretty awesome too.. the only
problem with it is that the text on my version follows the
english version, which clearly is more angled at kids, or at
least outside the japanese tradition of things that are
implicit... there is no japanese dialogue, yet the english
text keeps going and explaining things that really don't
need explaining...

gwely: yeah, I can imagine! I'm really looking forward to
it!

if you haven't seen it yet, see steamboy too.. saw it at a
movie festival last year, and just recently noticed it had
been released on dvd.. it's pretty awesome!

I'd have to say that bits of it were somewhat incessantly
tautological. It worked nicely, but a tad bit overboard in
some areas. I could tell words were just coming to you to
perfectly describe the vision. Managing it is a good
writer's skill. Don't get me wong, I love emphatic writing,
I do it myself :)

thank you, thank you, drunken mastah and merman!

i also loaded the story with wordplays that'd be hard for
some to pick out in any language. for example the
'naturalist flauberries' are a play on flaubert, the founder
of naturalism.

like how amy kadmon was my last 'ambient' story for a while,
judy bloom will be my last charming and innocent story until
i've added more variety to the site. next up we'll see a
strange dark world that likes to poke fun at itself. i also
recently finished a more mature story that'll follow it.

i'm very much excited about seeing howl's moving castle!
