I love the minimal melody, well placed notes and the growing synths totally add the darkness of it. the new melody @ 3.35 felt a little unneccesary. The sonar pulse beats near the end were a great touch. Good track man.

thanks
by unneccesary do you mean it should be removed or just that it adds nothing to the track?

I'm listening to this now.
The version you showed me yesterday was great enough, so hopefully this will be even better.

either be rid of it or change the melody slightly to fit the tone of the overall track. its a good synth, it just doesn't add up (to me at least).

Yeah. I like that. What are you using for the vox sounds?

writing commencing as listening commences.
that synth.. the dark one from the beginning that is still going.. it makes me think "movie/game soundtrack" instantly. it's not necessarily a bad connection, but you may want to think about the choice of instrument there if you actually want to aviod the connection... actually, the one that comes in at 2:5x gives me the same feeling... actually, though, I'm leaning more towards game soundtrack than movie right now.
5:4x: the bass changed. it's sounding more structured now, but I can't help but feel that I've just gone from the calm place of the game to some huge and "strange-planet-like" scenery that the developers want to bring up as something special.
now, after I'm out of the "it's a game" loop I was in, I'll say that the melodies are pretty damned nice and that the song progresses nicely, not becoming boring even after 10 minutes and 8 seconds. it's very minimal in its approach to the melodies (if that makes any kind of sense for me to be saying.. I'm not sure anymore), and I like it, but you may want to think about changing the instruments or keep stuff like that in mind for your next song, as songs, when spammed, more often than not, are the final products, and rarely subject to any other kind of change than pure mix and eq-ish change.
that'll teach me to listen to the entire thing before writing feedback the next time..
sum: it's very well done and the melodies are nice, but.. "game."

hey, thanks, thats a very in depth feedback. i said to cs2x earlier, i often find it very hard to go back and edit a track, once i've decided its 'finished' because if you do that you never get anything finished, and i've got a lot of unfinished music and half baked ideas already......
the whole mention of my music being quite computer game/film soundtrack sounding is a recurring theme when i play people my music.... uhh maybe i should try and get somewhere with that. i know my music has been used on an amateur documentry before, but i've yet to see that.
taxidermist, cheers, but what do you mean by vox?

yeah, you've definately got some "mood setting" stuff going, so games or movies could work for you... however, if you want to "get out" of the comparison, I'd suggest changing instrumentation.

It's alright. It has a Mogwai / post rock feel to it, especially from 6:00 onward.
I don't really like the detuned sound that starts around the 4:00 mark all that much. But other than that I think it's pretty good.

a vox sound is a synthesized vocal sound. It sounded like there was a synthesized moaning happening throughout the whole thing. That is what I liked the most.
