heh heh, I have it paused right now. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty (only with the 7 lives option, not 5 or 3)
I got ALL THE WAY to the place where you drive the bike on my FIRST LIFE!
I slightly lost my high of peanut butter and bean burritos then and lost only 2 lives on this level, but in dumb places that could have been avoided. I'm now to the boss that has worms come out and makes you spiral around but I already figured out a good technique to beat him in the umpteen times I've had to play him.

no.
I just beat that spiraling guy in one life and got to the final level with all continues and 9 lives and both guns the contra. Then I messed up and lost 3 lives in a row. This game is easy actually. It's just a bunch of mini games. If you master each mini game you master the game.
This game and many others employ a cheap trick though in that you have to do these mini games in a linear order... if you fail one you have to start at the beginning. It's just one of many possible general layouts of gameplay. This has good and bad:
bad- ... your ability to become skilled at the latter mini games is lessened only because you can't constantly replay them (have to beat all the ones before it linearly) If you could play the game in reverse order for awhile the entire thing would be so much easier because you'd be familiar with the end parts.
good- it makes the end of the game more stressful/scary because you know if you die you have to completely restart

This game is tough shit for me and my friends. Probably because we haven't "memorized" it. But we were able to get to play it on easy :P and get up to that air thing that shoots missles that you can hold on to. I'm sure we'll get even further next time.

I've never played 2 player (having no friends and all). If you want help on any part, let me know. This game is all about memorization. Actually games based on that are generally a lower quality game. Memorization is cheaply used in place of skill. So many top down shooters are this way.

for that giant flying ship, destroy the top gun first but jumping and shooting it ONLY when the bottom gun has a gap in firing. Then destroy the bottom gun by hanging on a bottom missle and shooting it, making sure you avoid its fire and not fall off. The rest is easy. Just keep jumping on the top missle and shoot till it's defeated (just use normal machine gun for all of this, or laser)

You did this? Or someone else? On hardest with 3 lives (not 7)? People that do those types of things are so friggin autistically ingeniously insane. Some of their feats put all the worlds olympic athletes to shame.

allright... but... I just set a timer to 13 minutes and tried myself. I went fairly fast I suppose and died only 1nce I think. However by the time I got to that giant guy that shoots fire in a circle, I had 3 minutes left. I don't see any possible way to shed off that many minutes given merely having to scroll past the scenery and such. It doesn't seem possible without cheating.
I'd watch the movie of the 13 minute run but my computer sucks too much to.
