a friend and i are working out a week where we listen to only britpop. so far we have: Blur, Oasis, Suede, Pulp, Radiohead, the Verve and an earlier coldplay album.(i dont like coldplay)
would bands such as the prodigy, massive attack, the streets, kaiser chiefs, franz ferdinand count?
can anyone help or offer any suggestions?
sorry this isnt electronic related but i dont know any britpop forums.

i don't think those frooom the 2nd group would fit in..as for me brit pop is more of a genre rather than just something that is popular.
i'd suggest the charlatans ofcourse!!

I think your second list is too contemporary to be deemed real Britpop. I'd also remove Coldplay from your first list.
Have a look here.
Usually, when people talk about Britpop, they're refusing to the 1993-1997 stuff. It's not just a genre, it was a movement in music at that time. The second-wave stuff (1998 onwards) isn't really Britpop.
I think you need to include Elastica, Supergrass, Super Furry Animals and Manic Street Preachers on your list.
