hi yes... surely you overdubbed all these instruments, right? i mean, you made it all up with each instrument separately, right? :)
this is very good. when i try to do this sort of thing, i generally fail miserably. i especially like that third track with the grainy vocal sample. nice and fun tracks!

correct, drums are all first take, guitar and bass were made up while listening to the drums, which took a couple takes.
thanks for the comments, i haven't done this sort of recording in a while and i felt it was time to try it again. pretty happy with the results, some of the remaining tracks are sloppy in spots but that was expected.
and i'm still working on that ambient/noise stuff, i haven't forgotten :D

if anyone else has taken a listen, i'd appreciate your thoughts. i'm sick of hearing what's at the back of chris's teeth. :D

listening, though if I get one more jamba popup from zebox, you're going to have to mail me the tracks or share them on soulseek...
the first impression of the first song is.. it sounds chaotic until I get used to the sound... I like the sound of it, but some more mix/eq wouldn't hurt, however, I feel that the point here is the music that is being improvised, so... well, it gives me that jam feel.. it sounds like you're having a great time, and if that comes through in the music itself, you did a great job! The roots often have these great jam thingies at the end of their records that give the same feel, and most of booker t and the mgs' songs also give that "hey! we feel great, and we're playing our instruments and having fun!" feel!
no jamba on the second song. good.
the reggae-ish part is awesome! I can't quite make out what the voice is saying, but I'm woozy (is that a word) from having a cold (I was supposed to read 30 pages today, but after three, the text started mixing up and becoming unfocused)... once again you're having fun!
third track, and jamba still stayed out of it, so here goes!
this track, for some reason or other, was more lacking on the "I'm having fun" feeling (even though you may even have had more fun with this one than the two others combined.. what do I know? my nick is drunken mastah...), but still good.
all in all, it was good shit, though not the type of stuff I normally listen to (neither is booker t, but I still listen to it). it'd be great to have you on an exquisite corpse (if you haven't already been in one), and do an "analogue" or "real instrument" one (if I haven't already done that.. have I..?) or at least cooperate with you somehow.
the design of your page is also awesome, and if my server didn't only have 700mbs which are almost all used up, I'd offer to host your page for you just to get rid of that awful ad on the side...

thanks for the words and the kind would-be offer! i've been meaning to finish the site and actually purchase a domain and pay for hosting, but for some reason (work) i haven't gotten around to it.
anyways, i had a lot of fun making this. i know the sound is pretty raw but that's the way i work i guess, i don't know too much about mastering (better eq, compression, etc...), but i enjoy doing it the way i have been.
and i've been meaning to join in with the exquisite corpse project, but again i seem to lose time (work)!!!
btw, if anyone is interested in purchasing a copy, email me and we'll get something worked out. $5 US, cd-r + full artwork.

finish the site? I hope you're not thinking of adding or altering the layout, just adding content and different areas..? the design as it is now rocks!
yeah, I suck pretty bad at eq and compression and all that myself, so I should probably clean my own shit up before badgering other people about it.. but with these songs it didn't really matter...
let me know if you have the time for a corpse some time, and I'll start one...

haha i have so much to put up still, the rest of my albums, design and artwork (one in each so far woo!), and some slight changes to the layout but not much.
i understand my production is very bare, and i don't mind the comments at all, even if your's isn't much better as you say. i know my production sucks and i appreciate the tips!!
