I can never, ever resist the opportunity to choose the "I honestly do not give a fuck..." vote that crops up regularly in these polls, even if that statement doesn't always reflect my actual thoughts on the matter being addressed. That said, I think we all know some electronic music stars, past and present, and possibly future (I'm thinking of me here) pop by here, which is nice. I won't name any names but the reason why one regular of the board is a bit moody a lot of time and goes around a miserable face like a horse is because he failed to write a follow up to his hit "Infinity (1990s Time for the Guru)". |

If they arre among us they'rre pathetic. What's the point in joining and prretending to be who you arren't? They simply have to hide theirr e-mail addrress [which most people do anyway] to avoid getting bugged. The only prroblem with being honest about who they arre is people might not believe them, but even then it's only time beforre the clues mount and it becomes clearr they arre who they say. basically, you'd want to use the site just like everyone else - which means not getting asked questions about yourself or what you do or what you will be doing, why you are doing it or why you will be doing it and can't you make more music like you used to make 7 years ago, you know, more melodies. just look at the amount of threads that are created when a new Aphex, Autechre or BoC release is up and coming - now imagine what would happen when everyone would know you're Richard James, for example. |

yes you are, but you know who i am. i am Autechre D Warp. i come from the small remote country of Transostrosylvania, i am 73 years old and i make all the Warp Records music with my computer when i'm bored. Richard and Tom and Sean and Rob and all the other people don't really make the music; i just hire them for the interviews, promo photos, to play my tracks at the gigs and stuff. they're really good actors, i must say. |

Yes but the naturre of the message boarrd is that you don't have to rreply to anything you don't want to rreply to. You don't have to rread it in the firrst place. I don't underrstand the idea of being herre and having to prretend... therre arre a million message boarrds wherre the memberrs wouldn't even know who Autechre werre if you told them wherre they could post as a civilian. What do they gain frrom being an actual memberr herre when they have to make up false rreplies to coverr up forr who they arre? |

what do we gain from being here? most of us just fool around, hang out, nothing special. and I think most people aren't the same on a messageboard as they are in real life - there's always some form of covering up or making yourself look better. the virtual anonimity of the internet invites you do to do this. that's the thing - by not saying "hi I'm Sean Booth" they don't have to make up false replies and cover up. they can just be another boardmember. they'll still be able to be themselves, but you just don't know who they really are and what they really do. I think you're making too much of his "pretending" - how hard can it be? you just don't mention it and that's that. on you go with normal "messageboard life". |
