There is something called "escrow" which is a 3rd party between two people in a transaction, making sure the buyer doesn't have to pay until satisfied with the item or something. It costs money to use plus there have been fraudulent escrow sites before. As qrter said be sure to pay with a credit card as they have "charge backs" (it's better if the place you purchase from is in the same state- credit card companies tend to let you anyway if from another state, but they enforce the law of not having to let you whenever they want. (assuming you're from usa)). Also, yeah, make sure there is a little lock symbol on the bottom right when you enter credit information and the site should be https not http. Or search for the company name + "fraud" in the internet to see if anything noteworthy comes up. |
