Listened to Kirlian Selections for the first time today. What do you reckon to it. Whats the deal is he just a pusher wannabee. |

people think that, yes... it's all nonsense, kirlian has no sp influences or any, i think it's pure class, great music. Perhaps the best cd of 2005 in my opinion! Wait for his new CD 'Reunion'! |

I suppose it comes down to whether he admits that he's ripping Squarepusher off, whether he is shameless or not. He is talented, IMO, but after all man it's just some fucking manipulation of electrons to induce ecstasies, no need to get contentious over it. |

As much as I loathe the phenomenon of critics terming music "pretentious," The Flashbulb embodies pretension. However, just like the one guy in Naked Lunch who can't help ejaculating when anally penetrated, I hate myself for helplessly fascinating The Flashbulb's musick. He is just more baroque than Squarepusher is, though I truly prefer Squarepusher's enceyalopaedic knowledge of jazz, that furthur informs Squarepusher's oeuvre. Sorry if I'm coming off a royal cock rabbit. |

i'm glad you realize that, weirdo... I don't hear any jazz in kirlian selections... most people seems to copy each others opinion without even listening to it... on the other hand, what the fuck does it matter... you like the music, or you don't. whether he is a git or not, he could be a pimp and i'd be alright with it, his cd's still ROCK. but if you have to: Squarepusher achieves this quality only in the first song of every album. The rest is for the lot just plain boring un-inspiring jazz stuff. Sp has the qualities sometimes but he uses 90% filler material. |

I think calling him a squarepusher ripoff is pretty much bullshit. Hell, the only track on Kirlian Selections that even sounds a little bit s/pish is Binedump, and even then it is a stellar track in its own regard. But for fuck's sake, go listen to his older works like These Open Fields or Resent and the April Sunshine Shed and tell me he sounds like a Squarepusher ripoff... they're nowhere close. Benn's one of the most talented artists around these days, and he's a really down to earth guy if you ever talk to him; I have no idea where your all's pretention bullshit is coming from. |
