Totally into metal recently - buying and listening to a
shitload of new (for me) stuff; such as :
ISIS - Oceanic - Heavy as shit.
OPETH - Blackwater Park - Death Metal combined with
Queensryche (whom I fucking love on Empire)
JESU - JESU - My favorite right now. Godflesh beauty
Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn - It's Alright
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence -Old School technical DM;
it's real good.
Pelican - Untitled - Heavy shit. One of my current favs.
Meshuggah - I - I like it.

No - all I have is "Untitled" now. I thought I'd just get
their new album which contains said single (minus flute solo
from what I've heard) and skip it. Should I reconsider?

Yes, it was metal that really got me interested in music to
begin with. Metallica's "Black Album" was released during
the summer between my 7th and 8th grade years. My buddy won
the last pair of tickets to see there show in Atlanta and I
went with him. GREAT seats - life-transforing show. I was
instantly a bass player and a few months later my parents
bought me a Fender bass rig. I still have that bass and it's
my primary instrument.
I gravitate twords extremes so I was soon in my
Gifted/Talented class playing for my classmates a tape of
Napalm Death's "Scum" on a little classroom tape recorder
and debating (positively) if it was or was not music and if
it had any worth. I still remember that shit.

Does Dream Theater count as metal? if so, then I love metal.

...not just dream theater, but also the liquid tension
experiments and a lot of Jordan Rudess' (keyboard god from
dream theater) discography.

No - I love, I mean I fucking LOVE, early SWANS though. I
got the Relapse Records DVD of their Contamination Festival
from 2003 amd the Neurosis set is sweet. I 've had one of
the earliest Neurosis albums for years though (the one with
the burning wicker man on the cover - Souls at Zero).

Yeah - it's all "Blearggggg" on second and all "Silent
Lucidity" the next. It's cool though.

im not a fan of the singing, or some of the melodies, but I
have to give the band credit for being some of the most
talented musicians ever. you should too.
