Hey there, just recently i've been using soundforge pro 7.0 to do some mixing ( or rather messing around with if you want to get picky ). But i find it very hard since there is no beat detection, tempo setting or quantising the time code. - so its very hard to get things in time. Naturally i went to acid since its a sequncer and it goes along side with soundforge.
Well, i just downloaded the demo and i have no idea how to edit the sound wave file with effects. For example, it lets me do real time effects, which is quite a hassle in its self because you have to mess around with another window then check for automation - i mean its all good and well if you want that, but i'd prefer it if it were more like soundforge where i can perminently edit the sound file, not having to mess around with opening another window and automating the effect.
Is there a sequncer (perhaps logic 5.0?) that lets me basicaly, right click on the selection i've made on the source wave file file and choose the effect i want to perminently edit it with?
thanks a lot.
p.s. i've tried going into pref's with soundforge but i can't seem to find any prefrences as to how i can change the time code/set temp.

in logic these types of effects/plugins are called Audiosuites.
real time effects are good though, especially if u want to go back and make some changes, or make the effect gradually change over time, for example.
i used to use soundforge, but that was a long time ago, when it was still sonicfoundry. sorry i can't be of more help.

i'd just like to add that i do like automation, its a great thing hwich i'd also like to have, but that doesn't mean ill use it for everything. i love perminent effects too, i just like the hands on way soundforge works. hmm ill have to see if logic is like this

Try audition. It lets you convert sections of a multitrack recording to unique copies, and then you just double click, and it opens it in a new window for you to edit. It doesn't support parameter editing, but you can automate the wet/dry of any multitude of effects.
