Haven't seen this for a while - just on the TV and there it
is.

Perfect way to round off the Bank Holiday ahead of a very
busy week.

Dinner and drinks at a friends then home to watch some Mel
Brookes sci-fi shennanigans.

That black guy on the radar is great, he's also good in the
Police Academy movies. In fact he's the only good thing in
Police Academy.

The DVD of the movie is great, even the menus are spoofs of
the Star Wars DVD menus.

When did this film come out, let's say 18 yeara ago, I have
a running argument with a friend of mine, that continues to
(pretty much) this day, where I maintain that I
didn't laugh once when we saw this at the cinema, and
he claims I laughed once. Either way, it's a pretty poor set
of statistics.

I have two friends who often rave about Spaceballs for
lengthy periods of time. Personally I think the comedy is
not very well executed, so even if the concept is funny,
which it isn't [for me], it still only succeeds in making my
bowels grumble a lot.

My bowels are very snooty.

I was also nine years old at the time.

It may be because I grew up on it in a way, but I think
spaceballs is great. a funfilled romp that both the kids and
parents can enjoy.

isn't this a common occurence with you whenever you laugh?

offline acrid milk hall from United Kingdom on 2005-08-30 12:21 [#01710138]
Points: 2916 Status: Lurker

The only reason I still laugh is because I laughed at it as
a kid. I know it's pretty weak in comparison to some of Mel
Brookes' other work - but it's just a bit of
background-noise toilet humour.

Oh, and the comment about the perfect end to a bank holiday
should have been read with a sizeable pinch of irony and
just a little tongue in cheek.

No need to be on the offensive with me all the time. I
didn't see your post til today actually.
I switch the film off half way through, logged off XLT and
took the dog for a walk before doing some work.
