well I just got back from my great holiday on the island of lesbos in greece and there lying on the doormat of my house literally 10 minutes ago as I walked in was a large white envelope with my school logo printed on it.
I got a D in Critical Thinking AS level. Shit.
I don't want any sort of sympathy because it's my fault entirely, I'd just like to know what this means...will Universities be put off now 'cos of this one grade? Can I just fail to mention it on my UCAS? argh the curse of the shit grade and post holiday stress all in one. Any advice re: disappointing grades?

really? I don't take my A levels until next year and I'm not continuing it as an A2 subject so thats it for critical thinking for me and I'm not sad to see it go.
thanks Taff (nice avatar btw!)

wow congrats with that, what Uni did you get into?
I'm hoping I can get into doing a combined honours degree at Liverpool Uni involving Law and Criminology. Hopefully I can just use this D as a bit of a wake up call to work harder and get decent enough grades in A Level to overlook it

if you got a D in critical thinking then don't bother doing anything again; all thinking is critical.
im only joking; i can assure you that any decent potential employees will not look on you less favourably for this.

"because I never bothered to spell 'off' properly"
haha that brought a smile back to my face, thanks. I guess I'll have to go away and think critically about this failure. On the plus side my teacher was an asshole and at least this will make his teaching look bad on paper and he wont get the Pay Bonus for every C+ Grade from Me!

brought a smile to my face too.
y'know spelling won't count in British English language examinations from now on. or something like that. near future. etc. travesty.

Don't worry, I got an E in A/S physics (the lowest A-Level grade it's possible to get) and I've done okay. You don't have to put it down on job application forms (just declare your other grades), but I would mention it to UCAS- that D will still earn you points to get into uni...
Trust me, if you want to, you'll find a way of getting into a half decent university and provided you do well there, employers won't really care about a-levels. Then a few years down the line, once you have experience and vocational qualifications, your degree results won't count for much and your a-levels will be almost negligible.

thanks Ceri JC, reading that made me feel a whole lot better about myself. I'm just praying that I don't end up in an interview to get into a Uni and they ask me "Very Nice grades as A Levels, but what happened with the AS?! lol that would be pretty hard to answer..
it's really the kick up the arse I needed though much as I hate to admit it because up till now like a lot of people I've been cruising through the courses without working hard *sigh*
