good in-ear headphones?

Hi, I had a pair of sony in-ear canal headphones, which died due to
abysmal cable quality.. the heavy bass bothered me as well.

anyway I like this style of headphone.. any recommendations?
shure models are supposed to be good, but I don't feel like
paying a shit ton just yet.

yeah that's what I've heard.. those and shure.. god damnit.
I wish there were something cheap I could pick up around
here.. I want headphones NOW but all these decent models
cost shit-tons in this crappy pretentious city.

oh sorry about my radio silence, I'm a boring person, awful
in fact, etc. blah

hahah! the google links proved useful for once!

Etymotic/Shure Headphones

Info guide to leading brands. Buying tips, links to deals.

don't worry about radio silence, and you're definately not
boring, man! My computer is completely busted (I'm finally
getting a new one (dual-core shizzle).. trying to figure out
the specifics still, but as soon as the money roll in, I'm
buying), so I can't read mail and stuff like that too often
anyway...

feel free to rant, though.

problem is that my current pair possibly frayed to shit
because of all the skating I do.. all the sweat I dumped
into it. I could pay $100+ but then what if all the
production costs go into the speakers, and the cable is
shit? fuck this planet, I'm taking off.

how about getting those that are on the outside of your ears
and kind of "clip on?"

don't know what they are called, nor do I know of quality
ones, as I never bothered to look into those types of
phones...

offline sneakattack on 2005-08-21 10:38 [#01702108]

I don't want anyone to hear anything I'm listening to.. also
I don't want any sound from outside.. finally I don't want
headphones larger than my player, which excludes getting the
bigass ones. those are annoying anyway, except when
sedentary.

Someone told me the other day that those type of headphones
increase the bacteria in your ear by like 20 per cent.

well with lazy use it makes sense.. but I always keep my old
set in a clean case when not in use so..

I mean, I think they are a bad idea, considering how easily
you can damage your hearing, but given my requirements,
there aren't many choices.

maybe I should just fold and get a set of big ass ones..

get sennheisser hd 25-1 for on-the-go excellence

oh yeah, was just checking wikipedia, which mentioned
something which was an original cause for me purchasing
them... since they block noise so well, you aren't forced to
listen too loudly.

I think you may just have to! asian girls can sell me
ANYTHING!

they are great for portable stuff apparently (only heard
them on a regular setup)!

hmmmm ok. is this what you were talking about?. money.

yeah for skating though.. fuck I hate buying things, it
makes me feel like death. I stress like nuts to make an
exact purchase, and even so the success rate isn't nearly
close enough to 100%. booooo

which model did you have? the sony's fit very well, and
would only fall out because of the stupid heavy cable
extension.

hahaha I like how much padding the 25-1's have for the top
of your head. ah well.

yeah! or.. maybe not EXACTLY.. there are hd 25-1, then
there's hd25 sp or something, but anyway.. this one may be
the same as 25-1, and as you can see it's 70 ohm, which
means it should work pretty good on portable thingies

yeah.. btw if you click the zoom link it says 25-1. but
you're saying 2 5-1... whatever.

btw, a funny anime is pani poni dash, though the first
episode is weak. oyasumi has the best translation.. the only
other great thing for me now is yakitate. Dokuro chan
became somewhat repetitive.. let's see, gunbuster 2,
gainax's wannabe of their own flcl, has some moments, but is
kinda lame. wikipedia has a pretty rich flcl article. eureka
seven became the shittiest thing ever. this summer has made
me hate everything; I can't wait for school to start again.

hmm...

I'll look into pani poni dash! the title sounds promising!
yakitate is still great, yeah! I got a few episodes before
the comp crashed. Has dokuro 5-6 come translated? I remember
something about gunbuster, but not sure what it was.. is it
a robot-maid? eureka was promising, but I kind of expected
it'd chase its own tail or whatever one may call it... and
yeah, I know what you mean.. it'll be great to get back to
studies so that I actually have something to do...

offline sneakattack on 2005-08-21 11:20 [#01702178]
Points: 6049 Status: Lurker

eureka became really mundane and stereotypical, in the worst
way. gunbuster you should see if bored.. and glad you enjoy
yakitate. dokuro 5-6 translated, but I only watched the
untranslated version. pani poni is another anime in the
great tradition of japanese anime & culture satires... woot

i have stuff to do, it all just sucks ass.. only one more
week.. when do you start again?

skateboarding is retarded. I have inline skates.

you don't feel retarded saying "i have inline skates"?

"inline skates" makes me go BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAA

boarding is so much more graceful than blading. i for one
can't staaand blading. looks so dumb.

ps - in-ear earphones are much noisier on busses etc than
big, proper headphones. also, proper headphones block out
outside noise far better, in my experience.

I never see skaters land moves, and whether or not that is
critical, one thing is true: inline skates are a much better
means of transportation.

by in-ear I mean the ear canal type.. I think you don't know
what I'm talking about. google the shure e2c.

it's basically accepted that they block noise way better
than even noise cancelling systems, which of course still
suck balls, but whatever.

says something about the difficulty and skillfulness of
skating compared to blading.

i mean the fucking blades are connected to your feet,
they're already extensions of your body. the skill and
talent in boarding is making this totally external board
with wheels attached do what you want.

you're right about the fact that blades are a better means
of transportation however.

there's something to be said about difficulty, however. If
something is 'easier', then people will simply push it to a
higher level. compare playing chords on a violin and piano:
it's 'easier' to play many notes simultaneously on the piano
(understatement.. the comparison becomes impossible). That
doesn't make piano easier.. you're just expected to do even
more ridiculous shit. If you took an amazingly adept
skateboarder and put him on inlines, you'd expect him to
still be impressive right? He would take the 'easier' device
and do more with it.

I like the connection I have with my skates. it's fucking
awesome, they feel like seamless part of body.

I saw a skateboard recently that had foot straps.. hahahaa
it was basically hobbled quad-skates with a connecting bar.
dumb.

No.

Those inline kids are always getting in the way. I know some
real good skaters that are real fun to watch in action. Then
you still got guys pulling off that old school shit.
Handplanting Mike V style. Riding up fences and shit. Good
stuff.

Assbear? LOL :D

I start this tuesday I think... and I'm also finally out of
that stuff I was on that was kind of philosophy, but more
linear and now move on to the stuff that actually has the
name "philosophy" and that actually is philosophy.
