He's a grumpy bugger.

The storyline doesn't seem to change very much.

But I quite like it anyway.

Also I keep expecting him to suddenly chirpily utter "my
sainted trousers B'ladder" or "harold the horny hunter had
an enormous horn". Which does put me off a bit.

Clearly I'm the only one.

Saw the first episode of "Lost" on C4. A bit cheesy, but
good old fashioned entertainment all the same. Will be
keeping an eye on it.

The storylines get a bit samey, but the dialogue and acting
is always brilliant. It has been first series I've watched
all the way through in a long time.

Oh and Hugh Laurie is definitely the man, his American
accent is good enough to deserve a mention, not to mention
the complexity of the character he plays remarkably well.

Doogie HOUSEr md?

I am going to plop my gimp files for your avatar into the
recycle bin. But I am not actually going to recycle them. I
will dump them in the ocean and hopefully kill some seals.
It ended up sucking, partly because I had to shrink it due
to my lack of foresight and partly because it simply ended
up sucking. I plan to just make a different one, not based
on the letters in your alias. Here's what I had which sucks
as you can see. Basically the letters go around in the shape
of a square [] with a hollow center and morph retardedly
into eachother (the e would move downward to an l). I had
other sucktastic ideas to add to it but it's not worth
finishing.

oh and btw about that show, 'house'... seen it once, seen
all "doctor" "hospital" "dramas" a million times. better
than the rest of them out there, i will admit, tho. still
didn't negate the fact that it reamianed just a make believe
fallacy on the telly used to sell me more mindless
propaganda, only now in short 2 minute bursts every four
minutes. smash your magnavox.

The adverts aren't nearly so bad in the UK, we get a few
minutes every 15 minutes of program, which isn't so bad.
Easy enough to ignore, just do something else while they are
running.

What makes the show interesting is the main character -
while the rest of them are fleshed out as well, he is a
complex and abrasive individual.

But yeah in general TV is pretty appalling. Just have to
pick your shows. I prefer mindless chatter on the internet
instead.

House is quite good.

Season 4 was the best so far.

too bad s4 got cut down so much due to the writers strike.
had lot's of potential but seemed a bit rushed imo.

fuckin great show, one of my faves, but i dont think they
will ever be able to top the run from the middle of season 1
through season 2 - past that it got all dramatized and
character-driven, which is good and all, but i liked when
the actual medicine was the focus of the show, they had some
great diagnoses.

one of my faves:
(apparently fucked his daughter) dad: so how did the test
come back? was it negative?
house: no.
dad: so she has cancer?
house: nnnnnot quite...
dad: ???
house: HE has cancer. on HIS left testical. male
pseudohermaphroditism [goes through whole diatribe with cgi
internal organs and such explaining that she has an x and y
chromo but is immune to testosterone - hence boy that really
looks like a girl)

dad: you're joking right?
house: no, me joking would be calling you a homo.

We're pretty opposite on House, I think. I've told people
they can just skip the first two seasons because- aside from
the Voegler arc in season 2- they're really repetitive.
Every episode hinged on the "oh we saved you but we have 20
minutes left so you're gonna collapse again on your way out
of the hospital" trick.

But I love what they've done the last two Seasons- shifting
the focus to the character. House himself has always been
the real reason to watch the show, and he's gotten
progressively better each season as a character.
