If this were 1990 I would be complimenting you on a job well
done. As it stands it sounds like a track that has been
recorded in 1990 and the tape has deteriorated over the
years. What did you use to record it with? It sounds like
something recorded off the radio. I'm not accusing you of
doing that btw...it could just be an interesting technique
to use when making a track.

i was trying to re-create that kinda low quality authentic
feel, but i might just do a clean version, i guess it is a
bit of a cliché idea afterall. it was all made on reason
btw.

i could try that whole radio thing, as i've got a radio
transmitter for my ipod, so i could do it if i wanted.....

You succeeded...anyone into the music of that era would love
it I am sure. I don't think it would work clean as the
muggy sound gives it a warmer feel. I quite like it having
listened through twice now.

I will start with the bad news, nothing too
critical...Frequency bleed between kick and bass at the
start caused destructive reinforcement...probably just be
the speakers im listening on tho (not ideal for reference).
Metallic hi hat was a bit too loud and decay too long imo.

I Liked the synth sounds you used, reminded me a bit of
Donkey Rhubarb..I like how it all comes together after a
couple of minutes, nice beat programming and a structure
that stays interesting

As for the ideas and the track as a whole....I really liked
it, I personally think it just needs a couple of little
tweaks on the mixer :)

Nice work!

what do you mean by frequency bleed exactly?

The bass and the kick share a lot of the same frequencies
and so become less individually distinguishable....it makes
it sound a bit muddy...I didn't mean to be overcritical, It
just involves messing around with the eq's slightly.

Out of curiosity did you reduce the top end of the bass and
increase the bottom?

Im gonna switch sound systems and have another listen, Im

It's always tempting to do that, something I always used to
do....have a look at this article LAZY_TITLE

It talks about subtractive Eq'ing...I've been doing this on
my tracks lately and they sound much clearer. Just one
aproach tho, I don't want to be telling you how to do
things.

i've just been listening to the orb , the album from 2003.
your track fits quite well in the playlist. i like it. the
melody and the whole vibe grabbed my attention, so i didn't
focus on production really. the track just flew, i think
it's good. nothing amazing but just ok.

does sound very 90's, but good all the same! :)

at least you've avoided the "reason" sound.
