Aphex Twin's QQT remix on Top Gear

Did anyone seen the Top Gear show sundaynight on BBC? (or
the re run on mondaynight) There was an item about a new BMW
diesel and Jeremy Clarkson was pushing the car on the track.
They used the Aphex Twin QQT remix from Mescalinum United's
'We Have Arrived'. Quite the extraordinary track to use for
a television show. I reckon it's a producer with taste over
at the BBC.

Go here and click the link in the 2nd post.

I never know what to say in these kinds of threads.

"hmm, that's great!" or something?

...and then we did THIS!

(cue "Layla" by Eric Clapton)

Ahhh old Top Gear, before they sacked Quentin "Swiss Tony"
Wilson.

It is quite obvious what top gear have done. They have 26
mixes for cash in thier collection.

I know this cos they have played snippets of almost all the
tracks and no other aphex tracks. on the last show was
kreiger and QQT mix. It was funny when they put at the heart
of it all on cos the abrasive sound overpowered clarksons
voice!

This serious they have played many many Warp tracks on the
show...they have some sort of licensing agreement with Warp
I am sure.

Top Gear always put on idm or electro stuff. I've heard
Amon Tobin, Squarepusher, etc...

What would you say is the most famous use of a Warp track in
a programme or advertising.

My vote is Brothomstates on the sprite advert but i haven't
thought for long.

No, they have Richard D James aswell. I heard about 3 tracks
from that album on one show. They use Aphex Twin absolutely
loads.

Did anyone see Sunday's episode with the Lamborghini Miuro?
After Richard Hammond did the bull run, they moved on to the
Lambo and after the car park scene when they moved out into
the desert, they played Windowlicker....
I'm gonna try and email them telling them that they should
invite Aphex on to the Star In A Car cos they play so much
of his music! Even if they did contact him, he'd probably
say no though....

If anyone wants proof, I've got a sound recording of the
start of the Lambo part.

I just sent a message:
Seeing as you play so much of his material for background
music on your great show, in my opinion you should invite
Richard James aka Aphex Twin to take part in your Star In A
Reasonably Priced Car competition?
I'm sure many Aphex Twin fans would be pleased if he
appeared on the show and we would like to hear how you get
on.

nm, i just watched it on the discovery channel but alas...
no IDM whatsoever. i think the closest they got was some
kinda prodigy remix. other than that, poop on a stick.
