Has anyone experince with one of these: EnVoice mk II?
I am looking for a preamp/compressor combo for bass guitar
and vocal recording. This seems to be some kind of
'studio-standard'... The only problem is, it doesn't have
any digital outputs unless you plug in a DI-MOD extension,
which costs around $250

Anyone familiar with similar products of other vendors?!?

I think my music disappoints you... I am in a rock cover
band (Skunk Anansie, Cranberries, Alanis Morissette, ...)
playing guitar. I use my gear mostly for recording
demo's...

My current setup:
- MotU 828mkII 22-channel Firewire digital audio interface,
supports 8 channels ADAT, 2 channels S/PDIF, TOS-link, 8
balanced TRS inputs, 2 mic preamps
- MindPrint En-Voice mkII channel strip with built-in
tube compressor
- Pentium 4 @ 3Ghz, running Cakewalk Home Studio 2004
- KRK Rokit RP5 nearfield monitors
- Boss GT-8 guitar effect processor
- Shure SM57 dynamic microphones
- Various software VST-plugins (Kjaerhus Audio
compressor/limiter/EQ/delay/...)

Currently, the 8 ADAT channels of my Motu828 are unused, so
I want to hook it up to this new Octamic to simultaneously
record 8 drum channels (kick, snare, tom 1-4, left/right
overheads). So, now it's actually possible to record a live
performance, which in our case requires 15 audio channels.

Thats cool man.

I am one of the few posters here that rarely listen to
electronic. the last 2-3 years were dedicated to
punk/hardcore.

I still like classic rock.

I am getting back into electronic though. Its good to hear
everything to keep fresh

Damn! There's no optical TOS-link cable in the box... Now
I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I can play around
with all the knobs and buttons :(

Ok, just connected it to my 828 and ik works really nice,
especially the clip/overload indicators are very useful; if
the incoming signal is too hot, the indicator keeps flashing
until reset... That's really cool to have when recording a
snare or kick drum... Luckily there are no synchronisation
issues between the 828 and the Octamic because they both
simply obey the clock-slaving rules...
