bbc dance charts:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/dancesingles.shtml

dont understand how this rank doesnt put it into official
top 40, bearing in mind the no.1 in the dance charts = no.14
in ot40???

maybe everyone bought 2 copies like me!?

is this chart based on copies sold or how many times a
record is played on the radio?

nah they just use this ridiculous system that isn't based on
actual copies sold but also takes into account airplay and
downloads too now I think

how's that ridiculous? it gives a more accurate image of the
popularity of it if that's what they do...

how does airplay show popularity? in howfar is popularity
created by airplay?

I mean if someone buys a record, you pretty much know they
like it.

a few DJs deciding to push a record tells you they think
you'll like it (or even should like it).

singles In 2003 a typical chart-topper sold around
62,000 per week. Sales of approx 13,000 would make the top
10 and singles made the Top 40 by selling just over 2,000
copies.

albums Average weekly sales figures for an album
topping the main artist chart are approximately 100,000 (but
there is huge variation). The number 10 album averages
23,500. A figure of 7,000 copies in a week should make the
number 40 position.

I don't know why I pasted that, I just wanted to know, and
then report my findings.

too.

I guess basing it on airplay etc as well as sales limits the
effects of discounting that only the majors can afford to
do.
