pollen

it's made from an "empty" recording with the mic. I just
turned it on, left it for a while and then stopped it again.
I then used the ambience and pitched and cut and stuff and
made a track. It's kind of repetitive, but background noise
has its limitations (to me, at least).

Interesting experiment... I very liked some parts of it,
especially in the second half - first with the little beat
you had going, and then the little melody you had - I'd like
to hear a version which had those two working in tangent!

thanks!

hehe.. they are working together.. it's just that
with so little variation in "sound," it sounds like they are
playing a new melody. The first pattern to emerge (the
dub-like one) is still playing when the second comes in and
the last one just adds to the second. the last one is the
only non-looping one.

hah, that was quite cool actually. if only you could create
a bass instrument from the recordings, as that would give it
some grounding. maybe use a small loop as a wave-shape in a
synth? if you choose your sample carefully, it could come
out quite well :D

the beat in the second half was definately a highlight, like
paul said.

very interesting!
maybe add a really dark digital/alienish synth for it.

thanks guys!

littlesister: yeah, I tried doing bass.. pitched it as low
as it went and eq'ed and added distortion.. truth is this
mic couldn't pick up bass even if I substituted it for a
microphone specially made for picking up bass...

gwely: heh.. I'm trying to keep to this one sample only..
the only thing I could think of to make that would be
flange/phaser, but it just sounded really cheesy and made
the sound disappear at times...
