My first xltronic meet up: So I'm at the 5 days off festival seeing a guy wearing a white t-shirt with a space-invader pic printed on it like the one below, beneath the white shirt he wears a black shirt..recognizing the pic from J198's avatar..i walk up to the guy and asked him if the black T-shirt also has a space-invader print..he looks at me and he thinks i'm crazy or something, shows me the print on the black shirt wich wasn't a space-invader pic, cant remember what was on it actually...I explain him that i recognize the pic on the white T-shirt from xltronic and ask him if he's J198..he confirmes with great enthousiasm..i tell him that i'm -crazone and he's crazy for wearing two shirts...I promised to make a topic about it..its crazy meeting people from here. |

haha :) i was already pretty mashed when you came up to me. I had no idea what you were talking about when you said something about identical shirts but later i figured it must have been something about my avatar. Who were you with by the way? My friend Eric said he knew a friend of yours. The gig was pretty amazing if you ask me. Ae's set started of like the eindhoven one but i'm not sure if it was exactly the same. Terrible shame about the hundreds of pics taken (with flash and assist beams) during the entire set. I'm surprised autechre didnt even flinch. Also the constant whistling (as in cheering) and applauding was awful. Best set was probably Amon Tobin's though. Richard Devine was also very good. The half hour of Luke Vibert i attended was pretty crappy :( Some of the dj's were very good too but i dont know who is who so it could have been mark broom or rob hall or both, and there was one other guy. |

i saw a tall guy walking around with a flashlight before the amon tobin gig. later i remembered something about someone here saying 'look for a tall guy with a flashlight'. maybe it was aesthetics? damn. And i would have met up with big if i hadnt forgotten to bring my phone.. |

I was with some friend from dordrecht but i think i know who your friend was talking about ..cause i met another friend from nijmegen later that night..his name is albert..and you're from nijmegen too right? Did you meet more peeps from xltronic btw? |

glad amon was the best in your opinion, cause i thought so too (dont know him at all), missed devine too which was a bit sad cause it was in 5.1 and i suppose it's good music dj highlights were analord (it's one i have but im too lazy to find it) (i danced) followed by another aphex twin, some ab or what, and a boc (both upstairs) |

yea, so generally im a bit hassitant meeting up with people from xlt, cause i hardly know them and there really is no common basis as well, but j198 i know a bit from slsk, so it kinda sucked, but it can happen, so it's alright (one time i mailed to some guy coming to holland and asking for a tour here and he just mailed back: k ill mail you back, and he never did. that sucked) |

i remember telling crazone something about how 'we' should organize an XLT meeting without any particular music event attached to it. theres enough xlt dutchies to make a good party :) maybe some belgians are up for it as well. so everyone's invited to my place (in maastricht) sometime in august! bring music! :D |

A lot of times when I meet a new person they initially think I'm mentally retarded. I know of several parents of acquaintances that have asked if I was. |

i really liked vibert, speedy j was really weird but in a very stoned way good, tobin was nice too. all in all not bad, but not a gig of my life either. with autechre the best bits were at the start of gig. i was a little tired and on a scary big club so i wasn't really relaxed (especially with the security dudes going around with flashlights all the time). should have drunk more i guess :D amsterdam seemed like a nice city but i guess i'm not the travelling type since i get so scared easily in new towns. i'll be going there again though. |

well, it's been nice having you next time you might want to see some other stuff of holland like one of those islands on top (ameland is the nicest, texel sucks) or one of the national parks (i believe we have about as many as america), or other places outside amsterdam. i could show you the hague |

Whats up with your friend Aesthetix? I just heard from a friend of J198 (called Eric, you've met him at the gig) that you had a friend with you, who introduced himself as Aesthetix...Eric was a bit confused and so am I. ;) Was it a big joke or does he really call himself Aesthetix? Fun fact; I've used the name AesthetiX for a while on my new PC when I had 2 slsk accounts. I guess you lolled a lot when you guys tried to explain Eric that your friend wasn't me. |
