Looks fun for impulsive musicmaking, but there doesn't seem to be any built in editing, which can be painfull.

Awesome :D
I am anxiously awaiting the extra ram and zip drive I ordered on ebay.
400-500e? thats almost $1000!!! Pretty expesnsive, altho the 1 gig smarcard support kinda makes it worthwhile. Three character interface is kind of crappy.

Steer clear of this thing.
3 LED display is a pain! Ive got a sp303 and the sample start/end editing is done by ear and its tricky. on my akai you can get a waveform display and its SOOOO much better. the 3 seven segment LED display thing is useless. a small LCD would make this thing so much better.
I can guarantee you will dislike the sequencer. It looks like the sp303 with more sample banks and a couple(ie 3) extra effects.
this thing could be quite good if it had an LCD, but I wouldn't get it with the crap display. oh and i doubt its true 'CD quality' as roland states, there is compression and its actually pretty good (assuming the engine is the same as the sp303, which I think it must be).
get a mpc1000 instead and use MD for live recording and sample it when you get home.

500e is 600$ if the looper option is same or similar to kaoss pads, then it rocks

I don't have it but I tried it in the store once.. it's actually really good.. got lots of special things from the larger zoom models.. like the bass-simulation and stuff like that (connect a regular electrical guitar, apply bass-simulation, and it sounds like you're playing bass).. I can imagine there's lots of fun to be had with applying these effects to things they're not meant for...

if you think thats fun, find yourself a digitech whammy pedal to play around with. its real time pitch shifting and harmonizing via an expression pedal and lets you bend from 2 octaves up to 6 down. the best is just hitting every open string while shifting up 2 octaves; the sound is just wretched :)
