I've looked far and wide for a good VST bass synth and I just can't find a decent one! I'm looking for a smooth, basseline-like, drum n bass style one. A bass sound where there is no beginning, no pluck, just pure bass. A decent sample will do just as well.
Thanks :D

808bass drum? have you got a wave editor cooledit or something? just generate a sinewave and add a tiny bit of distortion to give it some higher harmonics.
just sample one from a dnb record. thats how a lot of people do/did it.
just use an 808 bass drum sample and distortion for that jungle subbass sound or for a more modern dnb 'bass' sound its all about the higher frequencies too, so use that and a synth bass played an octave higher with distortion.

fuck samples. get this vsti here. it's freeware. but don't let that fool you. the filter is extremely good and a very good synth for bass. with some distortion you'll have a rippin bass in no time.

I found some other good ones here!

it's all about recording guitar and pitching shifting down the octave, hint-style (not that he was the first)

You could try the junglist by synapse audio.
Also, FM7 has a couple good drumnbass bass sounds.
I wouldn't suggest a single sinewave for drumnbass style basslines, that is too rich. Maybe use a sinewave and sawtooth wave with a 12lp filter.
