it's also available at warpmart (which in my experience are
faster than boomkat).

nothing at skam.co.uk, which is weird.

i can't, and I stress can't, believe that there is a
musician out there named wevie stonder... that is exactly
the type of names I have been calling my friends for years.
I do it all the time, often without even noticing. Shwarnold
Oortzaneggar. see I just came up with that one right now.
The odds that someone else out there has that same sense of
humor, and that he is actually producing music under such a
name, seem astronomically ridiculous to me.

not to rip into Boomkat, which is also a great online shop,
but another reason for me to order at warpmart is that I can
immediately get a copy of the rereleased Mark Broom 12" "Angie revisited"
(including a remix by autechre).

listening now. amazing work. their "sound design" is really
complex, i love all the samples. "when the last thing you
want is the first thing you get" is waaaaay darker than any
other stonder track. it'll freak you out! get this album
now, it is worth it.

I really can't believe you guys are raving about that. As
much as I try to be nice, most of the time, those samples
sound like absolute shit, along with everything else that
guy has done.

oh, piss off! that's not what I was implying at all. What I
meant was I do it, but don't even find it very funny.
Certainly not funny enough to name your music after.

it takes more than a 30 second clip to understand the wevie.
there is more production in their stuff than you can
imagine!

don´t get your frilly panties all in a twist.

I don´t think anyone thinks the name is very funny but I
also think no one really cares - just another name.

joketronica is a gimmick that I dont enjoy. If I wanted to
laugh I'd go listen to a comedian or watch R Kelly's
"trapped in the closet". This stuff isn't funny even as a
joke and it sure as hell doesn't even warrant as 'good
music'.

I'll get my coat.

if you have to make up some kind of retarded new genre name
for it ALL music should be kept away from you.

would be better for both parties.

I didn't make it up, I'm pretty sure I read it on Boomkat.
But lets face it, its a gimmick thats not funny (to me at
least) and there really isn't any other substance in it.

bullshit. if you take any time to really listen to it you'll
hear how musically the samples are used and soon you don't
even hear the supposed jokiness of the samples, you hear
them as sounds.

THEN you hear how well composed a lot of the tracks are.

some tracks hang to heavy to the jokey side, but that's just
a small part.

well its really just opinion, we ARE talking about music. I
just dont find anything interesting or inspirational about
it at all. Thats just me.

I know it's just opinion, I wasn't under the impression we
were having a scientific debate!

it's just that only a bit of Stonder is just gimmicky
supposed wackiness and most people immediately think "oh
well that's all there is to it and it isn't good music".

I think it's perfectly possible to see funniness (whether
you actually think it's funny or not) apart from musicality.

Well the first time I heard it, I knew nothing about it. I
strictly listened to it from a 'hey new music time!'
standpoint. From that I didn't like anything about it. The
melodies, textures, beats, composition didn't do
anything for me. It wasn't til later I read that there were
jokes or 'bits' and whatnot... then I said "wait a minute, i
listened to this whole album and didn't laugh once". So
thats my story. I still love you qrter!
