I think he means independent as in 'on an independent
label'.

well thats the thing, i dont think any 'indie' album has
sold all that much until it was picked up and distributed by
a major label after its initial 'indie' release. if thats
the criteria im sure its gotta be some kind of hip-hop/rap
album.

Well i am in a debate about what the biggest selling
independent album of all time is. I don't think it matters
which country it is in but maybe in England too, that would
help.

Half Man Half Biscuit's "Back In The DHSS" was the biggest
selling indie album of 1986.

after 1990 the word indie became a joke. and misconstrued.
it died. AND as if mute (=tossers) oh am i going to lose
some friends here? ok well err i can't be bothered but ill
shut it. yes, mute. erasure or depeche mode is the answer.
as if anyone gives a shit.

Tell us about your bad experiences with Mute records. You
weren't one of the Mute Drivers? I liked their PWA song.

on the contrary, my alchohol fulled jealousy only
exasperates that fact mute are THE independant label. the
guy who runs it in theory wants every release to be
available to the public and fair play to him. check
mutebank, theyre all there. he's awesome. credit where
credit is due, mute are about music, how many other labels
do this? i count none. mute rules.

ok second guessing if there was a reward for getting the
right answer i woyld guess at 'depeche mode 81-85'. or maybe
the innocents by erasure.
