i'm browsing with mozilla firefox, but behind a proxy on a local area network.
every once in a while, usually when changing website, i get an error message reading: "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)".
Also whenever i use google and then try to access another website firefox fails to recognise the change in domain.
e.g. if i was to click on 'www.xltronic.com/mb/' the location bar would read 'www.xltronic.com/mb/' but really it would be trying to access 'www.google.co.uk/mb/', which of couse doesnt exist.
my guess is it's something to do with DNS server settings and as usual the tech support forums & FAQ are of little to no help at all.
any one got any ideas? cheers.

switch to Internet Explorer. I think you'll find its a far superior web browser!

Tools, options, general, connection settings. If auto-config doesn't work you'll have to go manual and enter the IP address of the proxy.
I've never had to do this... wish I could be more help.

What are the settings in the IE equivalent dialog? Does it have a special url or port setting?

IE uses Windows' LAN settings, and they are virtually identical to firefox's connection settings - just with a slightly different layout.

sorted it in the end.
went to 'about:config' and changed 'network.http.proxy.version' from 1.1 to 1.0.
it's amazing what pissing about with settings can do.
