aircos suck too much power and they are quite big. i want my
fan to be portable.

oh, i don't need one of those..my room stays cold even in
the summer. it's hard to warm up in the winter though..and
you'll catch cold with that thing!

my room is in the 'attic' and alll the heat of the entire
house is flowing up here. windows open/closed makes no
difference. its just awful. feels like about 30 C in here.

ok i'd better get going.

tafel. table. dutch - german. taffel cheese. table cheese?

I didn't consider this until now. thank you!

np.

well i ended up getting a different fan: the AFK (away from
keyboard LOL) type evt.53 because it is all white and the
other one had a blue propeller which really didnt fit my
other stuff in the room.

although very plasticky and a hardly noticeable difference
between speed setting 1 and 2, it seems pretty solidly
built. The power cord is long enough, it has a 'swivel'
option and it won't cut your finger off if you stick them
into the propeller.

the only problem is, that although better than nothing, the
air it blows is warm.

hahaha!

fill a bottle with water, put it in the freezer, let it lie
there overnight or until frozen and put it behind the fan.

warm air is gonna be little use if you bought it because you
are too warm. couldnt you 'try before you buy'?

all fans do this. fans don't alter the temperature the air
in the room.

there would be a big difference if i splashed my face with
water first, but i would have to repeat that every few
minutes or so.

DM: does that really work?

yeah.. or, as big said, put it in front (depends on how cold
you want it).

i know, but fans shouldnt feel warm. perhaps the
propeller isnt going round fast enough?

or the "if you're a hot chick" version:

pour icewater sperm on the fan so it sprays it
in you face and post pictures :)

250 euro airco at aldi

250 fucking euros for a fan? Is there like some sort of
upper tier of super high quality fans for ventilatophiles
that I was unaware of?

Eurodevice?

YES! FOR GODSSAKE, YES!!!

I have a fan too. it's the bare fucking minimum in these
disgustingly hot days.

we never had airconditioning over here so we pejoratively
called it airco, i guess

hahaha
i don't have a fan or ac
it's all about the dehumidifier, loud as fuck
but if you keep your house closed up in the summer and leave
the damned thing on durring the day it stays nice and cool
inside
and it's cheaper than central air

online big from lsg on 2005-06-21 19:07 [#01640177]

i dont get it, you use it when there's a humid climate i
presume, but how does it cool?

offline diemax from somewhere in tennessee :( (United States) on 2005-06-21 21:36 [#01640204]
Points: 2040 Status: Lurker

it's SERIOUSLY not the heat, it's the amount of water in the
air, water circulates slower and will absorb heat and keep
it for longer, when you dehumidify all of a sudden you're
not sweating and it's even better 'cause you don't have an
irritating fan pointing at you, nor do you have that one
spot in the room that shoots violent cold air at you

Im getting the feeling that Europeans aren't too familiar w/
air conditioning and really hot weather in general. Is it
unusually hot over there these days?

yes, humidity is really the big evil.

yes i have, for all i know it's the same heat here now, i
thought however humidity mattered only in tropical climats.
furhtermore the summers seem to get really hot the last
years because of the climate change. im not too familiar
with air conditioning and a humidifier not at all, sounds
pretty good though

a selection of countries in europe: sweden & greece. for
example. try a map sometime :)

it's big! just like the climate is different in various
states in america!

humidity wise, we don't get to complain. I hear Florida is
the worst when it comes to that. Although algonquin park in
ontario felt like a tropical rainforest too when i was
there.
