hi !

i'm listening to "utonian automatic" by isotope 217. it's
great !
i'm a tortoise fanboi and love both projects. Their music is
a perfect bridge between rock, jazz and electronica. It
seems as if they have a lot of fun playing and recording -
which is rare and precious too. And John McEntire is a
fucking amazing as to production ideas.

My question is : have you seen either of them live ? How was
it ? Any great moments that you can remember ?

***********************************************

Thanks for any interesting and/or funny [BUT remember ! this
is a music mb !] comments
and possible spelling correction !

Matt: I think as a band we try to just make music that we
think is beautiful to try to help promote beauty
which sounds kind of stupid I guess, but on a real serious
level I think that's what we're trying to do, is like just
increase goodness in general.

Ralf: That doesn't sound stupid at all. It sounds very
accurate.

Matt: I'm glad. Whenever I say stuff like that I feel a
little goofy sometimes. (Laughs).

i saw tortoise live last month at the royal festival hall,
it was fucking awesome - the best bit, umm, well it was all
great, the xylophone section of djed is still very vivid in
my memory - they had some really cool visuals as well.

oh, sorry . i havent noticed your post undr those boobs.

they played djed ??? geezus. i saw them last year in
Poland. they began the gig with a medley of 3 tracks from
TNT, that was amazing. two drum kits, changing instruments.
wonderful.

his synth, very focused, as if he was looking at one point
only during a whole song

i haven't even listened to isotope, blud, anything to
recommend? tortoise did all but the last (bassy) part of
djed, they were swapping instruments loads at rfh as well -
they had two drumkits and two vibra/xylophones - one was
electric or something, it was just a long thin panel, it
looked ace.

as to isotope....the track that usually knocks me out after
long-time-no-listen to Isotope....it's LUH from "Utonian
Automatic" the best one of their 3 albums imo...i share them
if you want
