I found it midly amusing the first time I heard it on the radio and to be fair it is very catchy, but it's not the sort of high quality rock that I've come to expect from them over the curse of three albums. The debut album was outstanding as were the bootlegs, and I'm not embarassed to admit that I did enjoy 'Toxicity' as well. As an rock/metal album it's almost perfection and then I thought I could overlook 'Steal This Album!' because it was only b-sides and unreleased material that they quickly put onto CD because they were leaking all over the net (sell outs) from what i have heard the new album lacks neither the raw energy of the first album, or the passion, diversity and political messages of it's followup. It appears that music has ceased to be an outlet for their fustrations with society and has become all about the money and "having a laugh". Because of this newly adopted attitude I will ever again be able to hair any SOAD tracks without sub consciously knowing what they have evolved into as a band. it's pitiful. |
