Now I remember why...

I am at peace being washed by blue and red waves of sound.
slowly repeating but seeming like it changes all the time. I
am listening to Aphex Twin's ambient track "Stone in Focus."
Listening to it while being high is the best feeling I've
had in a long time. The music is surreal. Sounds mournful to
some people, but sounds like a state of mind that is calm
and at peace to me, personally. The melody with it's
exaggeratedly reverb'd/delay'd melody is so fucking awesome.
It's a higher form of intelligence or emotion, which cannot
be described by words. Now I remember why I got so engulfed
in ambient music. Now I remember why I started creating some
ambient tracks of my own. I am in a mood of euphoria. Sorry,
I don't really bother getting too deep with my feelings
towards ambient music. I don't want to sound "New Age" or
whatever but hearing tracks like this reminds me why I
started making ambient music. It is such a beautiful track.

it is sad when you need drugs/energizers to get so much to
music again.

People who are affected emotionally or lulled into a
pleasurable hypnotic state by music are mentally weak. When
I hear music all I experience is my acknowledgement of
objective physically moving air molecules.

Maybe you're the one who is in the wrong, and the experience
of an emmotional, almost spiritual connection to music is
real and actually more than a trick of the mind? And maybe,
I don't know what the fuck I am talking about?

what i realized concerning drugs and music is. complex /
complicated music is easier to listen to when not-sober.
you're more relaxed.

i always found it a bit hard to concentrate on ascension by
john coltrane. stoned it was very sweet.

Mental weakness is good. More pleasurable anyway than
physically moving air particles or perhaps I have yet to
experience the joys of that.

rather than being weak if you feel emotional when listening
to a piece of music, do you not think it's a possibility
that people feel what is know as katharsis? -An
undescribable feeling of emotion that overwhelms you when
you hear one particular piece of music.

"It's a higher form of intelligence or emotion, which

well, I can only speak for myself - I think it's wonderful
if you really like a piece of music and can really enjoy it,
for whatever reason, but as soon as you start talking about
it being a higher form of intelligence or emotion, I feel
you've firmly marched into the world of bullshit.

but that's just me.

And if some of you are criticizing drugs, you should
recognize that AFX has done weed, and so have Autechre. Are
they weak minded?

weed will always make music deeper. FACT.
there is nothing weak minded about that, in fact it is a
weak mind to not give into the magical natural herbs of the
earth to indulge in a higher state of neural activity while
listening to so called intelligent dance music in this one
time only ability to live.
