Sort of like a cross between a rectangle and a circle.

They sounded like a broken cd sometimes ago. Don't know if
they have evolved to sounding like other broken media since
then.

isn't that "him" only ? :)

Oval is like Cocteau Twins of experimental electronica - if
you like one of their records, you might as well like the
others. l
just like in my case.

oval ::

very intense loop driven micro sound.

Oh, I didn't know that Sebastian Oschatz & Frank Metzger had
quit.

For the record, I didn't know their names (other than Markus
Popp), so I had to check discogs.com :)

i like Oval : )

ambient glitch. (or something like that.)

much lighter and much more hazy than Autechre for example
(and more easily enjoyable in my opinion)...

sound sample

you know the sound of fast forwarding a cd ?

"tzikk tzikk tzikk tzikk"

that`s his thing, very interesting :)

Oval has been founded by Markus Popp, Sebastian Oschatz,
Frank Metzger in Darmstadt, Germany in 1991. In 1993 they
released their debut "Wohnton" (with vocals!). After their
third release "94 Diskont" (1996) they splitted.
Nowadays Oval is Markus Popp only, whereas Frank Metzger
works as Oval/Frank Metzger.

a bit complicated :)

i remember once seeing Markus in a TV documentary with Toma
and Werner from Mouse On Mars. it was about their trip to
Japan, the funniest document i've seen.

He dabbles in the occult and then makes strange music based
on his experiences with magik, alledgedly.

if I compare what people said to that sample, none of it
fits except for the "microbeat" part.

Well, you can search on google for interviews. The occultic
aspects of the music are discussed in a few of them.

I have a radio show with Richard where they play him an Oval
track and he talks about how he really enjoys it.

Talks about the whole "skipping through SAW2" thing.

yeah, I know.. people on this mb has a tendency to make
stuff sound more special than it is...

it sounds good, though, and I'll check for it. is it
something you'd say would have a high probability of being
easily available in norway?
