Does anyone have a non mp3 (lossless) recording of these
sessions? They are so nice and I've been looking for a
lossless copy for years. Someone here must. Plus I think
they'd be legal to post since they were only a radio
broadcast. :) If not everyone should start harassing Radio
One to play them again.

if they were only broadcast once the chances are there isn't
a "lossless" copy anywhere due to it being over 10 years old

Well, the BBC probably has them on DAT somewhere. And an FM
broadcast is still much better than mp3.

an fm broadcast which wouldve been recorded straight onto a
digital source? highly unlikely

Even a cassette would sound better than the 128kbps mp3's.

I remember watching a documentary that showed the way that
the bbc archived all their broadcasts and any original
material produced. It was pretty meticulous.

Does Dickie have anything to say if BBC decides to air these
sessions again?

I really like it, i like the couple of tracks that are
exclusive to the session. I don't mind it being foul
quality, it adds to the poignancy. I remember hearing it
when it was actually on the radio in 92, before many of you
were born. I was sitting in a car in some god forsaken
"Leisure Village" outside Portsmouth, and I wanted to hear
it all but my then girlfriend wanted to go to the (48
screen) cinema. Afterwards I had the hottest fucking spicey
nacho up unto this day. I suspect it wasn't just peppers but
raw cleaning agents in it.

yeah, i dig the fuzz quite a bit... i wouldn't want to hear
them cleaned up...

It's not the "fuzz" that's shit, it's that extra added mp3
warbling artifacts that makes them unlistenable. Which is a
shame cos they're great tracks. Aside from the shitness of
mp3s the 128kps versions out there are pretty clean and
sharp.

As far as I know, he doesn't, but he gets all the
royalties.

Its the same with films and commercials. The bbc can licence
out somebodies work for them, whether or not they want to.
They just get money for it (so for everyone who hates a
sellout, don't get pissed off because autechre might be in a
car commercial or two, they don't have a choice)
