Ah, I remember the good old days of warp where every order
would bring you a free copy of the "limited" Double Figure
promo 12". I think I got up to 6 or 7 copies at one point.

phone them up, pretend to be a dj, and they'll send you
loads of shit for free anyway, until you start dissing it in
the reaction sheets (as a mate of mine once did) then they
stop.

years.

that's why he wasn't so bothered when he was taken off the
list, did get some wicked stuff early though, promos of
Plaid, Aphex etc weeks before release

someone else did that trick on the board ?

I wish they'd regularly send me free promo records. I have
to scrabble, cripple-fingered and weeping, through the spun
detritus that others more fortunate than I deign to cast,
like rotten scraps for the dogs, towards ebay. Wot I then
buy.

Not as far as I know, he didn't have to try too hard to get
on the list, they didn't ask for solid proof that he was a
dj, I guess there are so many commercial djs around that
they were pleased that somebody was taking an interest in
playing their stuff out, it also helped that their press
officer at the time was cool.

They'll take you off the list if you start giving negative
comments in reaction sheets though, he hated most of the
stuff they sent him.

Warp has always been hit or miss. Their hits are awesome
though. For the ammount of times they have published someone
who actually has an effect on the current music industry,
they can release all the crap they want. Autechre alone have
been credited for being a massive influence on both
radiohead and the neptunes.

Combo: how much you want for a copy of your extra ae peel
sessions?

well, you are right, it costs 2.99 pounds in warpmart at the
moment, but who knows, maybe it could be a very nice present
from a fan to another fan ;)

It's called blagging, never really been into it myself but
some people are always doing it.
Hell, I was even talking to a certain member of ae at one of
their gigs when Incanabula first came out, I didn't have a
copy of it and his advice was "just phone Warp and they'll
send you a free copy", so if he doesn't mind people poncing
copies of his own album what's the harm?
