Anyone care about the World Hockey Championships? Gold medal game is minutes away. I like the little rivalry we've developed with the Czechs since they beat us at the '98 Olympics.
Russia/Sweden just finished up a while ago, Russia taking the bronze. Now that was a crazy game, firewagon hockey.

i think sweden had an amazing team this year and they got 4. place. canada wasn't all that, they are just rude.
czech deserves to win.

i try to avoid watching them but, living with a finnish hetero man, it's not that easy. (just joking in case someone decides to cling to everything i say again)
and i must say i'm slightly interested in the results.
tolstoyed, weren't you from slovenia? you have a hockey team? :o

If we keep playing like this then we ARE going down. 1-0 Czechs off a goal from that fairie-boy Vaclav Prospal.
We sucked in the 2nd and 3rd periods against Russia too, so that's one full game of weak play.

Canada has about 1 1/2 lines worth of players you'd want to depend on in this sort of situation... it's a shame so many of our best players turned this event down... i cannot believe they've gotten this far...

True, but not every team was fully stacked. Sweden didn't have their four best players (Lidstrom, Forsberg, Naslund, Sundin) and even the Czechs could have used guys like Lang, Hejduk and Hamrlik.
'Course we were missing Sakic, Blake, St. Louis, Pronger, Lecavalier, Iginla, Niedermayer, Foote, LEMIEUX...
They key was that only a few of our guys even played this year, while all the Czechs have been playing fulltime. Czechs just had too much juice for us. And anyway, excuses are lame, the Czechs are a great hockey nation.

it was cool to see how well some of the less NHLified countries did this year... i would be disappointed about Canada not winning, but then, they played pretty horrible for the most part, and i couldn't even be arsed to watch the final because the Pistons were playing the Pacers...
